a sensual haze…happy, free… Something she hadn’t felt in a long, long time. “I love you,” she whispered.
He cupped her chin with his palm and turned her face. He slid his mouth over hers, gentle suction locking them together.
When their breaths slowed, their kiss turned softer. A blending of lips that rubbed and pushed, so sweet tears pricked her eyes.

Colt saw the shimmer in her eyes. He gripped her hair and kissed her temple. Then he brought them to the bed, his softening cock slipping from her slick channel.
She sighed, seemingly happy to be in his arms.
“Feel like ridin’ this mornin’?” he rumbled behind her.
    “Thought we just did.”
He smiled into her hair. “Ride horses, sweetheart. Get some fresh air.”
Her head turned, eyes brightening with excitement. “I’d love to. But don’t you have to work?”
“Wade’s handlin’ things. Said he’d call if he hears anything.”
“You told him?” she asked, worry digging a line between her dark brows.
“Had to, Zuri. I have a supposed fugitive in my custody.”
“Did you tell him about the money?”
“No, and you’re not to worry about that. I have it locked away.”
Zuri drew back. “I should shower.”
He raised his eyebrows. “Nothin’ stoppin’ you.”
    “Well, it’s broad daylight and…”
“Not shy are you? I know every curve of your body.”
“We were…busy. In the moment.” She wrinkled her nose. “This feels a little…premeditated.”
    “I think I’m good.”
She crossed her eyes then scooted toward the edge of the bed, trying to drag the sheet with her, but he bunched it in his fist and held tight.
“Never knew you were a perv,” she huffed.
“Sure you did. It’s just one of my more endearing qualities.”
Zuri let go of the sheet and studied his expression. “You’re different today. You’re not as growly.”
He fingered the faint blue tracings of veins at her wrist. “I had a lot to take in yesterday.”
    “You believe me?”
Her soft, hushed tone did things to him. Made his insides melt. “I’m trying.”
She lifted her chin. “Guess that’s more than fair. My story sounds like a tall tale, even to me. Can’t imagine how it sounds to you as a lawman. You must hear stories like mine all the time.”
“Not really,” he said with a wry smile. “This is Caldera. The most exciting things that happen around here are barroom brawls and cattle on the highway. You’ve certainly livened things up.” He pointed his chin toward the bathroom door. “Any time you’re ready.”
With a twist of her lips, she slipped from beneath the sheet and darted to the bathroom door, white cheeks jiggling.
Colt grinned until she closed the door. Reaching down, he adjusted his cock. If she’d bumped against it, she’d have known just how close she’d been to being under him again.
He flipped back the sheet and strode toward the bathroom door. The shower was running. The chuff of a toothbrush sounded. She must have found his spare in the drawer. When he heard the soft snick of the shower door, he tried the bathroom door handle.
She hadn’t locked it after herself. Maybe she wanted company. And even though they’d just made love, it wasn’t enough.
He slid inside, opened the shower door and stepped in behind her.
She glanced over her shoulder and grinned. “Wondered if you’d be able to resist. I saw you starting to tent the sheet again.”
He smoothed his hands around her waist and came up against her, letting his cock ride the crack of her ass. “My shower…”
“Your rules? Huh.” She handed him the shampoo and shook back her hair.
“And my rules say I get to wash every inch of your skin.”
“I would expect no other punishment.”
Not something they’d ever shared. A skinny dip in the river, yes, but never the luxury of soap in his hands, fingers deep in her dark hair. He kneaded her scalp, loving her soft sighs as ropes of lather slid down her pale skin. “Time to
