past, present, and future:
    PAST-PRESENT-FUTURE READING
1. Take the steps you’ve learned for preparing for an angel reading. Ask your angels to surround you in divine white light and energy before picking your cards.
2. Hold your deck of cards in your hands and say a prayer asking to receive insight and guidance about your past, present, and future in order to better open yourself to the working of the divine in your life and be guided to all opportunities, relationships, and situations for your highest good.
3. Spread your cards out on the table. Then breathe, and ask your angels to help you pick the perfect cards. The first card is about the past. Choose your card and place it face side up. The second card is about something significant or something you need to know about your present life. Choose your card and place it to the right (it will be your middle card). The last card is about your future and this card gets placed to the right of your present card. All cards can be faced right side up.
4. Take a few minutes to look at your spread of cards, and ask the angels for guidance. Listen, feel, and ask for the clarity you need. Use the book enclosed with your deck of cards to discover even more detail and trigger more ideas.
5. Close the reading by thanking your angels, and ask them to continue to guide you so you may fully understand the significance of your reading.
6. Write or photograph the spread. If some of your cards don’t make sense at the time of the reading, review them at a later time. Trust that you will receive exactly the spiritual insights you seek.
Each card shares a message or a story for your edification that illuminates various aspects of your life in some way. The “past” card reveals information from your past that could help you heal or better your life in the present and the future. Your “present” card asks you to pay attention to what’s happening in your life right now. Your “future” card is sending you a message about a future opportunity or healing.
It is always important to use discernment when doing a card reading. If the cards you pick don’t feel right or if you really don’t understand the meaning of the cards, then reshuffle the cards again and pray with the angels and ask for help in picking new cards. Such a reading can be a blessing when you desire clarity or need help with a troubling situation or problem. Armed with a wider perspective, a reading can empower you to make better decisions, take appropriate action, or pay closer attention. Most often, you will finish your reading with a sense of peace and understanding.
36: Read Angel Messages in Tarot Cards
Just as picking an angel card for a single-card reading is a fun way to connect with your angels and an insightful way to receive a message of divine guidance, so you can also choose a single card from a tarot deck. Whether you have a specific question; seek options, solutions, and ideas; hope to validate yourself for a decision; or you desire swift insight into the forces that may be surrounding a problem or issue, pick a card to answer a specific question or ask for the knowledge you require in that moment.
Like the angel cards, tarot cards are usually packaged with a book that reveals the meaning of each card’s symbols. Questions you pose can be simple open-ended questions or more specific. For example, “What do I need to know today?” or “What do I need to know about (something specific)?” Some specific tarot cards have imagery and symbolism that is darker than the cards of an angel deck, however, even the darkest cards of a tarot deck can be interpreted in positive ways. For example, the “Tower” card suggests not the literal falling of a tower but rather the breakdown of structures to make way for something new; the “Death” card seldom means literal death but rather symbolizes transformation; and the “Devil” card suggests deception of some kind surrounding the question—a good thing to
