she flushed red as she pictured how he’d bound and positioned her with her ass in the air. Her bottom felt tender still and her nipples ached. She knew he hadn’t let her off the hook or even let up on her punishment because he wanted her to know just what she’d be getting into with him. This weekend was to give her a glimpse of life with Liam Roark. And it was different from anything she had imagined.
What was the same however was how she felt about him. She was in love with him, that much she knew; had known for some time. But ten years had numbed the pain of the loss of him, or at least, it had hidden it deep enough inside her that it was more of a dull ache than a full-on broken heart. She was enjoying the role-play in the bedroom, but would a time come when she wouldn’t, as he worried? She couldn’t imagine that, it came so naturally for her to be this way with him. But what if in the bedroom wasn’t all he wanted? What if he was right that in three months, or in half a year, she’d want vanilla again? Where would that leave either one of them? It was all just so new.
“Good morning.”
Liam was standing in the frame of the bathroom door and she’d been so lost in her thoughts, she hadn’t even heard the shower go off.
“Good morning,” she said, taking in his long hair dripping over his shoulders, his glistening chest and legs with only a small towel to cover the rest of him.
Shame rushed through her system. What had she let him do last night? She’d allowed herself to be so completely vulnerable, so exposed.
“You snore,” she blurted.
“How would you know? You were out cold,” he said, moving to the dresser and taking out some clothes. “Besides, you’re the one who snores.” He dropped his towel and Naia’s mouth watered at the sight of his big, gorgeous, naked body. Hugely muscled shoulders, back, and arms narrowed to his waist and tight ass, lean thighs, and calves. Naia swallowed when he turned to face her, his silvery-green gaze telling her he knew exactly what he was doing to her.
“You’re beautiful,” she whispered. She’d never been so aroused just by the sight of a naked man before.
He smiled. “You’re not so bad yourself,” he said, pulling on a pair of loose-fitting, white linen pants. “How do you feel?”
She flushed again and dropped her gaze from his. “A little sore.”
He sat on the edge of the bed and she lifted herself to lean against the headboard.
“I was hard on you last night,” he said.
“I asked for it,” she answered.
“We both asked for it. You need to know what you’d be getting into with me and I need to be sure it’s not just a passing phase for you.”
“What? Are you worried you’re just a notch on my belt?” she teased.
“Hardly. Just be sure, Naia,” he said, his expression as serious as she had ever seen it. He went to the door. “I’m going to run out to get breakfast while you have a shower. We can eat, then go for a swim.”
“I didn’t bring a suit,” she said, pushing all those thoughts away. Please, God, don’t let this just be a weekend. I won’t be able to stand losing him again.
“I have something in that drawer there that might be your size,” he answered.
“I’m not wearing something from one of your ex-girlfriends,” she said, knowing all along it wouldn’t be. Why was she acting so weird?
“Who said ex?” he grinned.
She only narrowed her eyes at him and climbed out of the bed.
“You’re the first woman I’ve ever brought here, Naia,” he said quietly, all joking aside. He didn’t even give her a chance to react before closing the door behind him.
Was he serious? She opened the drawer he had pointed to. Inside were several pairs of panties in various colors, all her size, a few tank tops, a white cotton sleeping shirt and, of course, the bikini. Or at least the bottom half. Everything still had the original tags from the store on them. So he’d gone shopping for her?
