"Hello???"
"Save me Link." I croaked out between sobs.
"Sam?! Where are you?!" He asked urgently. Doors slammed and voices whispered quickly in the background.
"At home. He's gonna send me away, and if I go, I don’t think I’ll be coming back... He's been trying to train me to be submissive. That's why the beatings and...” I sobbed again.
"Can you get to the gym?"
"I..I'm not sure, I can try." I sniffle.
"If you're not there in half an hour I'm coming to get you."
    "I'll try."
I clean myself up and throw some clothes and things I'll need into my gym bag and go in search of Teddy. He was nowhere to be found but I saw Jet standing guard at the front door
"I want to go to the gym." I stated loudly. He didn't even look at me, but simply thrust his head towards the car parked out front and moved to the driver’s seat swiftly. I stood a little shocked at how easily he'd offered to drive me there but climbed in the back anyway.
"I'm a little tense. Need to get in the ring and hit something." I told him as we drove. "I feel like I haven't been there for weeks, I'm getting a little tubby."
I joked nervously as we rode across town, trying not to make him suspicious. He just nodded as though he understood. My hands shook as we pulled into the car park and I stopped myself from throwing my body out the door and making a run for it. Jet opened my door but as I climbed out he took hold of my wrist. My stomach hit the floor. This was it. I'd been caught. He pulled his glasses up to sit on his head and for the first time saw the deep green eyes that sparkled underneath. They were beautiful and a total contradiction of his personality. While he said very little and seemed very dark, his eyes said a thousand words and beamed down at me.
"Why do you hide yourself away?" I asked without thinking. Confusion flashed for a minute, before a smirk created the tiniest little dimple in his right cheek.
"Was always taught emotions were weak." He answered, shrugging.
"We'll I guess I win." He cocked an eyebrow and I smiled smugly. "Told you one day I'd break you. I got a smile and words. Jackpot!"
I high fived myself as I ran across the parking lot, looking over my shoulder quickly to catch what I thought was laughter but he'd already climbed back in the car.
I knew Charlie had people on his payroll everywhere so I had to be careful. KC saw me and came walking up with a smile.
"Hey beautiful, wasn't expecting you." I hugged him and smiled.
"Yeah, been feeling a bit tense" I stepped back and rolled my shoulders. He laughed.
"While you're here, I need you to sign some papers, just typical stuff to renew your membership." My eyes flicked around the gym, I couldn't see Link anywhere.
"Um, yeah sure." I smiled and followed him through the sweaty bodies and sounds of flesh hitting bags, out the back past the changing rooms. "I didn't realise that was due already," I said as he opened the door and I stepped in behind him.
Two large men stood on either side of TKs desk with serious expressions on their faces.
The door closed behind me and I heard the lock flick but I couldn't take my eyes off the men. I started backing up only to hit a hard body. A scream bubbled up in my throat but didn’t make it to the surface before a hand covered my mouth.
"Shh, Sam." My eyes shot wide and I turned and leaped into Links strong arms. I let him pat my hair and make soothing noises as I drenched his shirt with tears. I don't know how long it took for me to be able to breathe normally but by the time I stepped back, my breath was catching in my throat, causing me to hiccup with every other mouthful of air.
Link tucked my hair behind my ear and smiled. A sincere smile that warmed my body. Once I had composed myself I eyed the other two large males suspiciously.
"Roman James and Dominic Callahan." Lincoln gestured briefly to each man. "They work for me. Don't worry, they aren't as scary as they look" he explained. Dominic stood serious and stoic.
