trash?” Violet Rose advanced on the pregnant woman who was calling Deidra names.
“Violet, don’t. She’s Jack’s adopted sister and she’s not herself. I sent Lacy-Jane to get her ol’ man to take her home. Jo, don’t make this any worse, you do not want to mess with Violet.” Dee knew Violet’s famous temper and she was afraid Jo might get knocked out by the older woman. “Dusty, could you get Jo out of here, please?”
Dusty moved forward and tried to grab Jack’s sister Jo, but she refused to move. Violet was screaming obscenities at the woman while Deidra looked miserable. Finally, her ol’ man came for her with a few other bikers and Rebel. Jack got Deidra out of the room after speaking quietly to Rebel.
Violet looked pissed off and suddenly her ol’ man was by her side. “I promised Whiskey you’d behave today, Violet. You’ll be going back to the hotel if there’s another outburst from you. Go sit with Chrissy and behave.” He watched as his wife walked out of the room with her head held high.
Rebel looked at Dusty, who stood off to the side. “I want to speak to Dusty alone. You all go back to the reception.” Rebel patted the sofa next to him and Dusty sat down. “You haven’t been home in a long time. I hear you’re living with Darko. Are you happy?”
“Rebel, home to me is New Jersey. I know you mean well, but I can’t stand Violet. I know she is your wife and my mother, but the things that happened in the past, I can’t forgive or forget them.”
Rebel said nothing but patted her leg.
She continued. “I’m happy for now with Darko. He wants more from me, but I don’t know if I have more to give. I think I love him, but after Loco, I am not sure if I can love. I don’t even know what love really is. For now, it’s working. I know my mother expected me to find a man in Satan’s Attitude, but I can’t be that close to her.”
Rebel said nothing but held her in his arms, cursing the secrets that he and Violet held, and swearing that the truth was going to come out very soon.
Dusty had a question that had been on her mind for some time. “Rebel, where is my daddy buried? I want to go visit his grave. Violet wouldn’t tell us, and Diablo hated to talk about my daddy. He did try to stop Violet from getting rid of me, but she had him wrapped around her pinkie.”
“Dusty, do you remember your dad at all?” Rebel had to know.
She looked up at him and smiled. “Of course I do. He looked like a younger you. Violet said that you were his twin. I remember when you got out of jail and there was all that fighting. I was sure there had been a mistake and that you were our daddy, coming to take us away from that evil witch. Angie thought that, too. It took a long time for Violet to convince us that you weren’t him, too. That is when we found out he had a twin brother. I think that was the first time I ever saw Diablo really hit Violet, she went flying across the room.” Dusty smiled at the memory.
“What was life with Violet like? Was she good to you girls at all?” Rebel watched his daughter carefully.
“We were always in her way unless there was a reason to bring us out. Diablo was much nicer and he made sure we got to go to school and had nice clothes. He treated us as well as he treated his daughter. Angie was Violet’s favorite because they look so much alike. She used to say that Angel was her sister.” She rubbed the tears from her eyes.
Rebel hated Violet more than he ever had in that moment. “Don’t cry. Let’s get this wedding over with and I promise you that I’ll tell you anything you want to know. If I could have changed things for you and Angie, I swear I would have.”
“I always tried to get her to love me, but I looked more like my father, Diablo said. It brought her bad memories because she loved him so much, I think. Angie was lucky; she met Hyway and fell in love. I stayed at their house as much as I could until that bastard Loco
