voice that filled the silence.
“So,” he said. “Does this mean you’re coming back to work at the store.”
Kendall smiled and cuddled up closer against his side. “That depends. Do I have to sell any more live bait?”
Jason laughed, the sound a deep rumble beneath her ear. “No more live bait,” he said, then after a moment, added, “And no more spankings, either. I promise.”
Kendall chewed on her lower lip. She’d been wondering how to bring the subject of spanking up in conversation. She was glad he’d done it for her. “Actually,” she said softly. “I made more of a fuss about the spanking than I probably should have.”
He cupped her jaw to gently tilt her head up. “I thought the spankings were the reason you didn’t want to go out with me anymore.”
“In a way, they were. But not for the reason you think.”
    “Okay. Now, I’m really confused.”
She pushed herself up on her elbow. “Let me try to explain. When you first spanked me, I was furious. I mean, I’ve never been spanked in my life. And to have my boss do it—”
“Kendall, I’m—” he began, but she put a finger to his lips, shushing him.
“But now that I’ve had some time to think about it, I can admit there was something about getting spanked that…well, turned me on a little.” He lifted a brow, and she hurried on before she lost her nerve. “That sounds crazy, I know, especially since those spankings really stung, but…”
Jason’s mouth quirked as he reached up to tuck her hair behind an ear. “It’s not crazy, honey. A lot of people get turned on by spanking.”
“I know that, but I didn’t used to be one of them.”
“So, if the spankings turned you on, why did you get so upset?”
She gave him a sheepish look. “That was the part that took me a while to figure out. It’s hard to reconcile getting off on being submissive when a woman in today’s world is supposed to be strong and independent. I wasn’t sure how to be both. Does that make any sense?”
“I suppose,” he said. “You’re a complex woman, and this is a complex situation. You don’t think you should enjoy it, but you do. Maybe, you should stop thinking so much and just enjoy it.”
Kendall’s lips curved. “You sound pretty confident you’ll have to spank me again. You’re that sure I’m going to mess up, huh?”
Jason grinned. “Not all spankings have to be about punishing you for being a bad girl. We could do it as foreplay.”
    Her pussy spasmed. “Foreplay?”
    His grin broadened. “Uh-huh.”
Taking her hand, Jason sat back against the headboard and guided her over his lap. Kendall held herself stiffly, eager, but nervous at the same time.
Jason gently ran his hand down her back. “Relax.”
Easy for him to say. But determined to try, Kendall pillowed her head on her arms. At least this position was much more comfortable than being draped over his knee. While she might seem relaxed on the outside, she was a bundle of quivering nerves on the inside. Mostly because she had no idea what to expect.
Instead of smacking her ass like she expected him to, Jason tenderly caressed her derriere until she moaned from the sheer pleasure of how good it felt. If she didn’t know it before, she knew it now. Her ass was definitely one of her erogenous zones.
    “Ready?” Jason asked softly.
Kendall felt her heart speed up. The thought of giving him permission to spank her sent a naughty, little thrill through her, and she nodded.
“I didn’t hear that. What did you say?”
He wanted her to say it out loud. That made it even more delicious. “Yes,” she said softly, then added, “I’m ready.”
The hand that had been lightly resting on her back before pressed down more firmly, anchoring her in place. She automatically tensed, holding her breath as she waited for him to begin.
The first spank wasn’t nearly as hard as any of the others he’d given her, but it wasn’t exactly a lovepat either, and she let
