by me, flashing her a quick smile. She had done good, but there was no time to congratulate her. There would be time for that later. Right now, it was time for business. The door behind me, the one that led into one of the many service hallways that ran through the casino, closed behind me as the door in front of me opened. Detective Mike Gordon entered, almost running into the room. He glanced around, surprised to see me but no Krista. I smiled at him. “Hi, Mike. I’m the new man in Krista’s life. We need to talk.”
He was a cop, maybe a good one, maybe not, but he knew enough to smell a trap. “Fuck this,” he said, turning and pulling the door open. Dante stood on the other side, filling the doorway with his 6-foot, 4-inch-tall frame. Mike staggered back as Dante entered the storage room, letting the door close behind him. He grabbed Mike, spun him around to face me, and held him tight, pinning his arms behind his back.
“Fucking pussy,” Mike screamed. “Not man enough to fight me without man-mountain here?”
I chuckled. “You’re funny, Mike. The last person who called me a pussy got a bullet between the eyes… after I cut his tongue out.” I smiled, enjoying the way the color washed out of his face. I reached under his jacket and pulled a gun from a shoulder holster and put it in my jacket pocket. It would ruin the line of the suit but that was okay. It was worth it. I patted Mike down, pulled a smaller gun from an ankle holster, and placed that one in another pocket. I stepped back and nodded.
Dante let the detective go with a shove, stepping back against the door. That exit was officially out of commission for the moment.
Mike glared at Dante. “Touch me again, asswipe, and I’ll kick your ass.”
Dante looked at me. “Just one?”
I shook my head. “Not now.”
Dante frowned, but didn’t say anything.
I cleared my throat, pulling Mike’s attention back to me. “Now as I was saying, Mike, I’m Krista’s new man, responsible for giving her the big cock and thorough fucking that she was sadly missing while with you.”
Mike roared like a wounded bear and charged towards me. I punched him between the eyes, sending him crashing to the floor. I shook my head as he looked up at me, blood spilling from his nose. “No, Mike. I’m not some helpless woman who has no choice but to put up with your shit so don’t act stupid or you’ll get hurt.” I smiled and shrugged. “Actually, you’re going to get hurt anyway so feel free to act as stupid as you want.”
“Do you know who I am, asshole?” Mike yelled. “I’m a fucking police detective and you’re in deep sheet.” He climbed to his feet, reached into his jacket, and pulled out his badge. “See that, fucker? You’re fucked.”
“Let me see?” I said, holding out my hand. He slapped the badge into my palm. I looked at it, spit on it, and dropped it. As Mike stared at his shiny symbol of manhood laying on the floor, I punched him in the gut, and then sent an elbow crashing into the side of his face. He crashed down, landing next to his badge.
I glanced at Dante. “Will you do the honors?”
“With fucking pleasure.” Dante stepped forward and knelt down, flipping Mike over onto his stomach. He grabbed the detective’s shirt and wrinkly-ass jacket by the collar and jerked down savagely, tearing the material down the middle, baring Mike’s back.
“Gonna fucking kill you,” Mike moaned, struggling to get up. Dante put his foot between the cop’s shoulder blades, holding him down.
“Hush now,” I said, pulling my belt off. “You need to save your breath because you’re going to need it. I looked at the belt in my hand. It wasn’t actually mine. I’d never wear something like this under normal circumstances. I saw a good ol’ boy from Texas walking through the casino this morning and knew it was exactly what I was looking for – a big thick strap of leather with a huge silver belt buckle on the end.
