behalf of them. Baby’s anxiety grew for the big reveal as Treacherous exited the car. It wasn’t that she thought he’d be disappointed at her choice, she just wanted to show him that she would always have his back and that he could trust her judgment if they were ever apart. It was important to Baby that he knew that. He had proven his loyalty to her time and time again without even trying and she wanted to reciprocate. Although they weren’t bound by marriage, Baby had vowed to ride through sickness and health and for better or worse. Now, here it was: they officially stood outside of what would be their first official place to call home.
The first thing Treacherous noticed when he climbed out of the car was how quiet the neighborhood was. It was so quiet you could hear a needle drop in a haystack. All that could be heard were crickets chirping and a variety of hissing noises made by whatever lurked in the grass and trees. A sense of peace swept through Treacherous’s body. In the midst of all that they were dealing with, the area made him feel safe. The neighborhood sort of reminded him of the area Baby had grown up in. He could see why she had picked the one-family house she’d rented for them.
The neighborhood was the perfect place to hide out, thought Baby. She was surprised to have found the vacancy in the want ads section of the newspaper. After viewing three other properties, Baby knew the crib thirty-five minutes on the outskirts of Richmond was the right choice. Houses were spaced out miles apart, and there was no heavy foot or flow of traffic, so they didn’t have to worry about nosey neighbors or good Samaritans passing by. It was the type of area where the only people you’d see around were the people who lived there.
Treacherous made his way to the front door of the house. He continued to be impressed by the way Baby was handling her business since the two had been a team. They had come so far in a short period of time, he thought. He reflected on the chain of events. They had been running nonstop. Since the two of them had escaped from the mental institution and become fugitives of justice, it had been one big, chaotic whirlwind. Neither had a chance to breathe. They had every law enforcement officer you could think of looking for them. They simply made do with what they took along the way to survive, doing whatever it took, from robbing to stealing and even killing if they had to. Now, they had money, a car, and a place to lay their heads.
Baby was used to all of that, growing up in a two-parent home, but she knew he wasn’t. For the moment, she wanted to pretend that life as they knew it was normal. It had been so long that she was beginning to forget what normal felt like. Being on the run had her on edge and feeling like a hunted animal. It was beginning to take a toll on her. Baby just wanted to get away from all of that so this was perfect.
â€œ Mi casa es su casa. ” She stood in the doorway smiling. She used her hand to guide Treacherous inside the house.
She knew that this was a new chapter in their lives and needed to be as perfect as it could be under the circumstances. Treacherous accepted her invitation. He entered the home and stepped foot into the living room. He took in the whole 1200-square-foot area of the two-bedroom home. The furniture was a seven-piece, chocolate leather set. A sixty-inch Sharp flat screen complemented the area.
Treacherous made his way into the kitchen. He opened up the fridge. Baby had made sure both it and the freezer were piled up. She had also fully stocked the cabinets with food and beverages as well as color-coordinated dishes and pans. Baby could tell Treacherous was pleased. He walked from room to room taking it all in. She was nervous and happy at the same time as she watched him examine their new home.
Treacherous walked into the bathroom and looked at the two matching Polo towels hanging on the towel rack, and
