her slightly aroused, he thought. She’d probably let him in. But she blocked his advance with her hand.
“Please, Kurt. Let’s just get dress and go out to dinner.”
“Come on baby. Is it going to kill you to help me release some of this tension that’s been building up inside of me?”
“Is that all you think I’m good for?” she said, placing a pillow between them.
“Look, I don’t say that when you come to visit me, especially when you want me to scratch that itch, and right away.”
Silent, her lids slipped down over her eyes.
“So, you’re just going to leave me frustrated. Just like that. Dammit … do you have any desire left for me?”
    “Sometimes.”
“Sometimes? I guess that means when you’re not around family. You know, I’ve notice that whenever we’re around your family, you seem to be distant with me. Why is that?”
    “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
    “Just think about it, Leslie.”
“Look, are we going out to eat or not?”
“Yeah, just go ahead and change the subject. But you cannot deny that you act one way around me and another way around your people.”
    “My people?”
“Yes, your people! People meaning family.”
“Please Kurt…try to keep your voice down.”
“Yeah, I know. Your sister might hear us. And we wouldn’t want that.”
Annoyed, Leslie turned away and stared into the far corner of the room.
Kurt reluctantly got out of the bed and put his clothes back on. “I don’t know why I try so hard, Leslie,” he murmured. “I’ll be out in the car.”
“Hey, are we still going out for dinner or not?”
Kurt walked off, opting not to respond.
That’s it! He fumed silently. He was not going to go out of his way to visit her again. Not after this episode. This was the final straw. It was over between the two, he told himself. And to think she had the nerve to lie there on that bed looking so beautiful, so scrumptious, so enticing and inviting, then opting to give him the cold shoulder once he decided to touch the merchandise. To hell with women, he cursed. Who needs them? He thought as he slammed the car door shut.
Suddenly aware of his outdoor surroundings, he rubbed both of his hands together. “Man, its cold out here,” he uttered. He immediately turned on the engine and let it warm up before turning on the heater.
Though it seemed like hours to him, it was actually minutes later when Leslie peered through the window of the car. Reluctantly, he rolled down the window.
    “We need to talk, Kurt.”
Walking around to the passenger side, she slid inside.
Kurt grimaced, then said, “Look, I am sorry for going off like that. As you may already know, I’m a little tense and anxious the first day we see one another.”
“Look, I understand, but you have to understand that we are living separate lives now. I am no longer the available housewife you want me to be. I’m on my own now. You have to respect that Kurt.”
“So what does that mean? At times I feel like I’m being jerked around. Tell me, is there someone else? Someone you’ve met here in Tulsa?”
“No, there’s no one else. And I’m not looking.”
“Then tell me, do you still love me?”
“Look, I have told you that I no longer feel the same way about you Kurt.”
“Then why do you continue to come back to me?”
“I don’t know,” she replied, biting her bottom lip. “Perhaps I’m afraid of what’s out there. With you, I feel like I know what I’m getting.”
“Leslie, that’s just fine and dandy,” he said firmly. “Really flattering. But to be honest with you, I’d be disappointed to find out that our occasional get-togethers are nothing more than a booty call. Anyway, I can’t go on like this.”
“Listen, come on back inside, please,” she urged, touching his arm with her gloved hand.
“So that I can be teased, then rejected again?”
    “Teased?”
“Well, after all, I wasn’t the one lying there looking all sumptuous and
