âit was a little awkward.â
The woman turned and faced Elsie. âIâm Savannah.â
âIâm Elsie.â
After they shook hands, Savannah took a step back and looked at Elsie. âYou look familiar.â
âWell, they say we all have a twin,â Elsie told her.
âNo, thatâs not it.â Savannah shook her head. âIâve seen you somewhere . . . oh, I know, youâre the young woman that just opened the center downtown, the essence-is-something-or-another.â
Elsie nodded and said, âthe Essence of Self Center.â
âThatâs a great thing youâre doing. Iâm a gynecologist, if thereâs anything I can do for you, let me know.â
That was an offer Elsie was not going to turn down. To have a doctor on her board of directors would be an excellent addition.
Savannah handed Elsie her card.
âIâll call you,â Elsie told her.
Once out the store, they went their separate ways and Elsie couldnât help but think that woman is crazy but fine. She wondered if this Savannah woman was gay. Would luck be on her side? She doubted it very seriously. Luck was never on her side when it came to relationships.
For the past couple of weeks, she had dreams about her ex-girlfriend, Summer. She didnât know if the dreams were because she was thinking of her in her subconscious or if it was because she was horny. Whatever the reason, she wanted so bad to call her and catch up, to see how she and her daughter were doing.
As Elsie recalled, what she and Summer had was special and they promised one another that they would remain friends even though they were no longer together. Instead they drifted apart.
Maybe it was because they both figured, whatâs the point. Now when Elsie thought about it, she saw what the point was. When you love someone, you donât just let them go. Yes, she was the one who broke it off. She was also the one that caused the pain and now she regretted it.
She regretted telling Summer that she should focus on her relationship with her daughter, who had just moved in with her, and that she needed space. It was all a lie.
What was really going on was Elsie was starting to panic, she was going into the âam I really capable of a healthy relationship, can I make her happy, how long is this really going to lastâ mode. Instead of talking about it, Elsie decided to run away from it, to get out of the relationship.

Elsie looked at her watch. She had just under two hours to get to the office. She was meeting Jewellâs cousin, Harmony, at 12:30 PM . She already knew she was going to hire her. She was trusting Jewellâs judgment. She just wanted to speak with her and find out what kind of person she was and why she wanted the job. But most important, she wanted to feel her vibe, see if she was the type of person she wanted to be around every day.
Elsie was standing in line at Victoriaâs Secret about to pay for some undergarments when she felt someone place their hand on her waist.
She turned around with the quickness ready to knock someone out, but was surprised to see Trey, an old high school crush, standing behind her with a big-ass smile on his face.
âOh my God, Trey?â
Laughing, he removed his hand. âThe one and only.â
Elsie wrapped her arms around him. âYou still look the same, plus twenty something years.â
Trey looked her up and down. âAs do you, but just ten plus years.â
They stood and looked at one another for a couple of seconds and sized each other up.
âI was walking by and glanced in,â Trey told her. âI saw your profile and was like, oh shit, she looks like Elsie from high school. I wasnât too sure if it was you so I decided to take a chance and see. Iâm glad I did.â
âIâm glad you did too,â Elsie said. âBut what if it wasnât me?â
âTwo things would have happened.
