The Dress

"If I don't find the perfect dress, I'm not going."
"What do you mean, you're not going? Stop looking for an excuse to bow out. You’ll find a dress!”
Melissa Franks sped down the highway as she spoke to her best friend over the Bluetooth speaker in her car. She was heading to her favorite mall to find a dress for an old high school friend’s wedding. She'd been trying to decide if she would go for weeks. Now, three days before the big event, she was scrambling to pull an outfit together.
"Well, I hope so because I'm not going to another mall if I don't find something that really catches my eye.  And, I'm not going to the wedding if I don't find a dress that I love."
"Are you at least feeling better about going, now?" her friend Felicity Peters responded.
Melissa sighed, "I'm fine. Who knows? It could be fun. I haven't seen some of my friends who’ll be there since the day we graduated. So, it'll be good to see them."
"That's the spirit. I think you'll have fun."
"Unless Terrence and Christina decide to show up. Ugh. I think I'll just tuck myself into a ball and roll out of there if they do."
Terrence and Christina had been high school sweethearts and friends of Melissa's. Until she and Terrence developed feelings for one another, making for a scandal that her gossipy, teen-aged schoolmates feasted on for months.
"I don't think they'll be there. I think you're gonna go to that wedding and have a fantastic time. Now, go. Find your dress and call me back. Send me some pictures via text and I'll let you know what I think."
"Thanks for the push. I'll call you later."
"Cool. I'll be right here," Felicity responded.
Melissa removed the key fob from her car's ignition and sat quietly.  She went over a mental checklist of things she was looking for in a dress, then hopped out of the car to head inside.  A hint of fall was in the air as October moved into Maryland like the slow ooze from a bottle of corn syrup.
Melissa decided to start her search in a department store where she could normally find a large selection of dresses in one well laid out area.  She dodged the attendants offering free samples of fragrances and lotions and immediately dove in to the racks once she reached the oasis of frocks.  She wanted something sexy, but not slutty. To stand out, but not appear desperate. That required just the right balance of tits and ass on display. I gotta give the boys a little something to wonder about.
"Can I help you find something?"
The mousy-looking clerk walked up to Melissa and gave her a once over that said everything she'd never allow her lips to utter, "Tramp." Her tone was short and curt and there was nothing friendly about it at all.
Melissa smiled politely, then declined the offer of assistance.
"Um, no thank you. I think I can handle it. But, I'll definitely give you a shout if I need anything." Like some tweezers to remove that hair from your chin.
Melissa turned and rolled her eyes, disgusted by the woman's obvious judgment of her before she'd even uttered a word.
Cranky old bitch. I bet even she's getting more dick than me.
Melissa was 30 years old and she was kicking ass and taking names as a management consultant to some of the most powerful firms on K Street. She'd been educated at the finest schools in the country and she could discuss everything from the situation in Ukraine to George Clooney's wedding guest list with ease.
She stood 5'9" tall and while she was lean, she had curves in all the right places. Her juicy, 38c tits made men squirm in their seats when she walked into a room. Her jet black hair framed her well-featured face perfectly and her smile, protected by plump, too seldom kissed lips, could bring a man to his knees. Yet, she was perpetually single and something had to give. She hadn’t had sex in so long, she was beginning to wonder if she ever would again.
She moved about the dress section quickly, devouring the selections with her eyes, so she
