A feeling of peace washed over her as she felt Marcus lie on the bed next to her pulling her into his arms with her back to his chest. She could feel him watching her, anticipation hung in the air. Sighing she asked him.
    “You want to know what happened don’t you?”
    “Only if you feel up to it, if not it can wait until tomorrow”
    “No, it’s only right you should know, you are alpha of the pack. We tracked for a few hours but the trail was just dead. Your enforcers split up to search and Luke and Tristan forged ahead. I stopped because of a pungent smell, it lead to some sort of glacier valley”
    “If it was the west side it would have been devils ridge”
    “Devils ridge?” she giggled.
    “Don’t ask ! it was not me who came up with the name it was my ancestors”
    “Sorry, anyway I could scent Anna ’s fear, so tracked her to a ledge half way down, she was obviously injured and was afraid to shift. She did say that a man had tried to stab her with a syringe and she fell down the side landing on the ledge, she also said he was coming back for her”
    Marcus sat up to look down at her, his face was stern.
    “What bastard would do that do a female wolf? And what the fuck was he trying to inject her with?”
    “I’m not sure, but I believe the pungen t smell I picked up on was maybe the chemicals in the air still from it. Anyway on our way back up I slipped against a tree branch and punctured my side.”
    “Bloody hell Bri, you could have died out there, you cannot die do you hear me baby? I would be lost without you. Maybe Rhett was right and I should never have brought outside help in, the only advantage is that it brought me to my mate”
    “Wait a minute, what do you mean Rhett was right?”

    Brianna swung her legs over the bed so fast and jumped to stand, causing a momentary spin of the room. She saw Marcus reach for her, but she was so pissed at that enforcer she wanted to find him and show him how pissed she was.
    “I have worked with Luke for two years now. It is company policy that we have to have an established link, if we did not one of us would probably have been dead or injured ten times over. And don’t give me the crap about putting the pack at risk, that’s bullshit, if anything we are helping you guys out!”
    Marcus managed to grab her by the waist this time and pulled her gently back on the bed, pulling her back against his chest, kissing her forehead.
    “I know Brianna, you don’t have to convince me . I understand how things work, even if I do still feel uncomfortable with it”
    Brianna smiled against her pillow.
    “Your jealous!”
    “Yes, I am baby, I don’t have green eyes for nothing you know. You are mine, my mate and any male threat will be dealt with accordingly”

    “Oh Marcus, there is no threat from Luke believe me, he is a trusted friend and colleague, nothing more”
