outside,” said Brock, as they walked out to his rented vehicle.
He took her hand and rested it in the crook of his arm as they crossed the
university parking lot.
    They
drove to an Italian restaurant he had frequented in the past.  Once there, they
ate and spoke about his book some more, but this time Gwen was not taking
notes.  She was fascinated by him.  The conversation wasn’t all about science,
as the wine flowed between courses.  They spoke about college life which turned
to living alone and relationships and coping with life in general.
    Gwen
learned quite a bit about Brock, who was very open and honest about his life.  She
felt as though she had known him for years.  She felt her shyness slipping away,
as her feelings for him grew with every passing minute.  She wasn’t sure if it
was just a girlish infatuation or something else, but she enjoyed her time with
the gorgeous author.
    When
the meal was over and the last of the wine had been consumed, Gwen felt her
head buzzing a little.  Feeling a bit tipsy, she was glad that Brock had his
car, since she was unsure how she would get back to her off-campus apartment.  Sure,
Brock drank also, but something told her, now that it was too late, that he
probably didn’t have as much wine as she did.
    “Thank
you for a lovely evening,” Gwen said, feeling more relaxed than when she first
met Brock.
    “You’re
welcome.  Calling it a night?” he asked with a radiant smile.
    “I
just assumed you had other plans.  I’m sure you’re a busy man,” said Gwen, not
trying to wear out her welcome.
    “True.
I am busy, but I am also free the rest of the night.  I mean, it’s up to you,
of course,” explained Brock, as he pulled out his wallet to pay for their
dinner.
    Gwen
thought about it for a moment.  She didn’t want to impose, but the idea of
spending more time with Brock was both exciting and arousing.  She was getting
worked up inside, trying hard to not let it show.  She didn’t want to appear
easy, but she was obviously turned on by Brock and hoped he felt the same way
about her.
    He
represented both a crush of sorts, as well as a fantasy lover. To be with him
would be wonderful, she imagined, but needed to keep those thoughts in check,
just in case he wasn’t feeling the same thing as her. However, he did ask her
what she wanted to do. The ball was seemingly in her court.
    “Sure
I wouldn’t be bothering you?” asked Gwen timidly, not sure where she stood.
    “Seriously?
Of course not.  I’d love for our evening to continue,” assured Brock, giving
his winning smile to Gwen.
    “Okay,
as long as it’s all right with you,” she agreed, exhaling loudly.
    "Sure.
I have a nice hotel room nearby, just me and a big old bed," he explained.
         "Sounds
better than the one room apartment I have off campus," said Gwen, feeling
a little silly.
         "Sounds
better than my college days. I had to share a room with two other guys.  It was
smaller than the room I have at the hotel." Brock chuckled at the memory.
    "Wow!"
exclaimed Gwen, having trouble imagining him as a struggling student.
    They
ended up talking about college days past, present and future again while
driving back to the hotel. In that time they grew closer, as the pair realized
how much they enjoyed each other's company. Brock was sure to flirt with Gwen
at every turn, while she became more comfortable with his advances. She even
made a few risqué comments of her own, clearly loosening up as time passed.
    They
arrived at the hotel, and Gwen stepped out of the car and looked around.  She
was impressed by how nice it looked from the outside.  She figured between his
work in Chemistry and becoming a best-selling author, Brock had the means to
afford such a nice place.
    They
traveled up to his floor, the twelfth, by elevator. There was a rich-looking
elderly couple with them, but that didn't stop Brock. The whole ride up he
playfully rubbed Gwen's back, his hand sliding up
