that the man went out cold.
Nobody saw what really happened since they were sitting in the back, but the maître d’ explained to the people sitting near them that the man was trying to rob them by using a Taser. He added that the man was going to jail. Nobody seemed to see anything. They had gotten lucky. It was really smart thinking on the maître d’s part in case they had seen the fireball.
Kayden and Zoey followed Johnny and Andrew as they dragged the man out of the restaurant and took him to a private elevator. They went down a few floors and came out into a huge room. Only a few chairs were in the room. They walked to another door, and a guard opened the door allowing them inside. The walls appeared to be made of steel. The guard pushed a button, and a door opened into a glass room. The witch was dragged into the room and laid on the bed. Nothing was inside the room except a bed and a toilet. Johnny and Andrew secured the man to the bed with handcuffs and walked out and closed the door.
“Who the hell was that?” Johnny looked at Kayden and Zoey for an answer.
“We don’t know,” Kayden answered for both of them.
“It’s a witch, and he wanted one of us dead or all of us. I don’t know which,” Johnny answered.
“Oh no! Kayden, you don’t think it was Claudia who sent him to kill me?” Zoey grabbed Kayden’s arm. She knew she looked worried but couldn’t shake the feeling that a war was about to start.
    “Who is Claudia?” Johnny demanded.
“Can he get out of there or do a spell to get out of there?” Kayden asked.
Johnny looked over at the glass room. “No, it’s spell proof. My coven has it covered from the ceiling to the floors. He can’t get out or do any spells while he is in that room. Now you owe me some answers. Let’s go to my room, so we can talk in private.” Johnny didn’t wait for Kayden or her to reply before he started walking toward the private elevator. The elevator took them to the top floor where the penthouse was located.

Chapter 12

Zoey thought her eyes were going to bug out of her head when the doors opened. “Just like you said, Andrew.”  Shaking her head in disbelief, Zoey walked further into the room. One side of the room was covered in glass allowing them to see the sparkling lights of Vegas. “Beautiful doesn’t seem a good enough word to express this view.” It was beautiful, and she couldn’t stop herself from walking to the glass wall and looking out.
“It’s magnificent,” Zoey whispered. Johnny walked up beside her and stared out into the sky.
“Zoey, who is Claudia?” Johnny asked softly.
Zoey looked over at Johnny then bowed her head. The man had been nothing but kind to her, and she almost got him killed. She walked back over to the couch and sat down.
“I never meant for this to happen. It’s because of me that Andrew and you almost got killed. I’m so sorry,” she answered, truly meaning it.
“Zoey, it’s not your fault,” Kayden replied. He sat down beside her and grabbed her hand. She was shaking. She couldn’t stop thinking about what could have happened to Johnny and Andrew.
Kayden wrapped his arm around her sharing his body heat with her. She couldn’t stop snuggling up to him as Kayden started explaining.
“Claudia Blackwood is the witch’s name. Do you know of her?” Kayden asked Johnny.
    “No, I don’t,” Johnny responded.
“Claudia Blackwood is pure evil. She sent her daughter, Metilda Blackwood, to Alpha City. Her intentions were to try and take it over one Alpha at a time. First, they were going to kill Ryder so her mate Jim Sanders of the Sanders Pack could take over in his place.”
“I thought that only you and your pack could be in charge of Alpha City.” Johnny interrupted Kayden.
“Yes that’s correct, but Claudia didn’t care. She wanted to take over one pack and one pride at a time. Then she would be in complete control of the city. What I’m about to tell you can never be
