at each other. Eyes hungry and craving what was about to happen.
“Fuck!” he moaned as he fucked her hard and fast. Then with one last almighty breathless gasp, he came, shooting his seed deep inside her.
Quivering, Connor held on to Molly as he waded in from the water. He gently set her down on the blanket and grabbed two towels from the chairs that had been carefully arranged under a blue pergola, the voiles lighting moving in the warm breeze.
Molly took the towel from Connor and dried her hair before wrapping the towel around herself. Kneeling on the soft material, she watched Connor as he brazenly sauntered naked around the small table, pouring two glasses of juice.
“You are full of surprises,” he said as he walked back over to Molly, handing her the glass.
Giggling, Molly’s cheeks flushed. “Well, just sometimes I surprise myself too.”
    “You hungry?”
    “Famished.”
    “Then let’s eat.”
As Connor held out his hand to her, Molly took it and let him help her to her feet.
Just sometimes, Molly did shock herself, but this time, it felt right.

Chapter Thirteen

Connor loved the way Molly sipped at her juice. She was so delicate looking, yet he knew how strong she could be. There was no denying the surprise he felt from their passionate encounter in the water, and he certainly wasn’t going to complain. It had been a long time since a woman had been able to seduce him like that. It being Molly only added to the thrill of the experience.
“It’s so gorgeous out here,” Molly said as she looked out. Sailboats dotted the horizon, barely visible, bobbing in the water. “How could you ever want to leave?”
Cutting into his cheese, Connor put a few bits on a dry cracker, popping the whole thing into his mouth, smiling at her. “Because my job requires my presence and…soul.”
    “Sounds ominous.”
“Oh, it is.” He raised his eyebrows. “My father, King Dick, he likes his empire run a particular way, and unfortunately, I, his lowly minion, am not cutthroat enough for him.”
“Is that the reason you’ve been feeling the way you have?”
Taking a mouthful of juice, Connor looked over the rim at the glass. Molly stared at him, waiting for his reply. “Can I be honest with you?”
“Absolutely,” Molly replied, lifting her feet up from the sand and resting them across Connor’s lap.
“I’ve not been feeling well for a while.” He looked at Molly as he ran his hand over her feet. “I think the catalyst was the loss of millions last week. I was treated like a child in front of our entire board, held accountable and left to clean up a mess that was started long before I ever took over the contract.”
    “Wow, I’m sorry.”
“Yup! And when I finally try to talk to someone, I’m told to stop being a pussy and fix things. That was it. I wanted out.” Connor was sincere as he spoke.
    “What about your mother?”
“My mother cares more about saving face than saving her son.”
Connor became uncomfortable from the sheer mention of his mother. If ever there was someone who made him feel ill and uneasy in their company, it was her.
“Well, I’m here, you can talk to me. I told you that before.” Molly lifted her feet off him, got up and sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. “I know that this is all new, and totally crazy, but if you need to talk, then talk to me. Don’t bottle it up because believe me, doing that will destroy you from the inside out.”
Running a finger up and down her back, Connor kissed her arm. “Is that something you’ve learned from experience?”
    “Yes!”
    “What happened?”
It was the one question Connor had tried to avoid asking, but he knew that to understand the real Molly, he had to get beneath the surface. Even if it meant bringing up painful memories. “Long story short?” she said as a frown creased her forehead.
    “If it’s too painful—”
    “No, I want to… It’s just… I guess I’m
