match.”
Jewels nodded. “I’m the newest girl here, besides you. Saxton and Roc found me in an alley behind a bar one day, battered and crying my eyes out after my boyfriend left me stranded, without a penny to my name. They fed me and took care of me while they were in town for the weekend. I jumped at the offer when they asked me to come with them back to their club after they made it clear what was expected of me. I may not look like it, but I enjoy sex. I enjoy making people feel good, knowing I did that to them. We all in some way owe this MC our lives. Without them, we could be walking the streets or waiting tables in some dingy bar, shacking up with some asshole that takes our last dollar for drugs.”
Zoey’s heart broke for these girls. In some way she had known they had all come from heartbreaking circumstances that led them to this way of living. But after hearing from each of them, she realized they didn’t mind their way of living at all. These three were nice girls with horrible backgrounds. Maybe one day they could all be friends, something Zoey missed in her life.
“See... it’s not the life you thought we lived after all,” Sandy said. “In fact, we’re happy here. Stone makes sure each of the members gets tested frequently, as so do we. We prefer them to wear condoms, but we understand that when the heat of the moment arises, sometimes we tend to forget.”
Zoey was grateful that Stone and Jace had remembered to wear a condom the night before. She didn’t think any of them were ready to become a parent, not wanting to take any chances. Sure, she wanted to get married and have kids when the time was right. But since she was just getting to know Stone and Jace, she didn’t know where they stood when it came to having a family in the future. Before meeting the two, the thought of someday finding a man who wanted a family had never crossed her mind.
Trish stood from her chair and picked up her cup. “I better run. A few of the guys are running into town today and I need to pick up a few things.”
“Shoot... I forgot that was today. I need to hurry up too,” Jewels said, following in her path.
“I told Stone I would hang out in the clubhouse today, because they are expecting two new chicks to arrive this afternoon. I’m like the welcoming committee, showing the newbies around. Is everything okay with you? Did you have any questions?”
Zoey shook her head as she ate her muffin. “Thank you, though, for your help last night. Stone and Jace appreciated what I was wearing.”
Sandy winked. “Of course they did, sweetie. Show a man a little skin and you’ll have his dick harder than steel in no time. If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to holler at me. I’ll catch you later, hon.”
Zoey busied herself, trying hard not to think of what Stone and Jace were doing. She knew they were busy men and she shouldn’t think of bothering them in their office during the day, knowing they would come find her if they wanted to see her. But there was that little devil on her shoulder that kept niggling at her, wondering if they had really enjoyed themselves as much as she did the night before or if she was just another warm, willing body to occupy their bed for the night.
She began to anger herself with those thoughts. So she went about tidying up their room after she put on the clean sheets and found clean towels to replace in the bathroom. The dirty towels she picked up off the floor and one that was hanging on the rack had seen better days, and she wasn’t quite sure when they had been last changed.
It was nearly lunchtime and she was bored out of her mind. She figured she would go and search for Marx and see if he had any free time for them to talk. As she came closer to the common room, she could hear the loud music and the smell of cigarettes lingering in the air. There was always a chance she would walk in on someone, but when she rounded the corner she saw a man relaxing his arms
