    I just stood there in the middle of my office absorbing all that he’d said. I was flabbergasted and short on words.
    Even angry, I was still turned on by the thought of the heated sex sessions we had over ten years ago; waking up to him tossing my salad, to sex on his table, and then the shower sex that changed showers for me for the rest of my life. It sent me over, standing right there in my office.
    â€œWas this muthafucka serious?” I pondered to myself as I made my way back toward my desk.
    My secretary came in a couple of minutes later. “Is everything okay, Mr. Black?” she said, a concerned look on her face.
    â€œYeah, I’m okay, Renee.” I sighed. I truly wasn’t. I wasn’t being the man I was supposed to be by letting this mofo run me like this. This is getting old, fast. When am I going to stand up to my lies and put this situation in check? Or am I just fooling myself into thinking James would give up this charade that easy?
    â€œYou don’t look too good. You want me to get you something?”
    Renee was so nurturing, there were times I would forget she was my secretary.
    â€œYeah, that would be great,” I said as I went in one of the desk drawers and pulled out a personal-size mirror. I was a little flushed in the face, but that would go away in a couple of minutes.
    Renee quickly exited and returned with a hot tea that she said calmed you down after you drank it. I wasn’t the home-remedy type of guy, but to my surprise, twenty minutes after I drank the tea, I began to feel at ease.
    â€œMr. B ,” she said, standing with her hands on her hips, “you need to fuck somebody up? ’Cause I got four brothers that don’t mind breaking their foot off in a nigga’s ass.”
    I was a little shocked. At work, she was always professional. I’d never seen her like this.
    I contemplated it a little but let it pass. I knew I could handle this alone. “No, thanks, Renee. It was just an old friend that was heated about something I couldn’t help him with.”

    I stayed in my office a little later than usual trying to figure a way out of the mess I was in. Coming up with no immediate solution, I left my office and headed to the local corner store to get me some liquor. I needed to inebriate myself to deal with this situation.
