brother a glance. Gideon had taken up perch on the edge of the desk, one thigh swung over the corner, and a shit-eating grin spread across his lips.
“I assure you it was the lighting on the dance floor,” Michael said, purposely keeping all inflection out of his tone. “I have not had the ability to blush in more than a century, brother.”
“I was under the impression that wasn’t the only ability you had lost.” Gideon refused to let up. “You proved last night you still know how to dance.”
“Just because I chose not to dance to that stuff you call music does not mean I cannot do it when I must.”
Gideon lifted a brow, his midnight-blue eyes twinkling with boyish amusement. “And last night was a must?” He shook his head and pursed his lips. “I don’t know, Mikey. It sure didn’t look to me like that gorgeous blonde had to twist your arm very hard. Of course, I did look away for a half second or so. Maybe I managed to miss seeing you kicking and screaming your way to that dance floor.”
Michael leaned back in his chair and regarded his brother with a steady gaze. “That gorgeous blonde, or the woman she was before, never had to do more than make a request to get me to do anything. You know that as well as I.”
Gideon’s expression softened despite the trace of skepticism Michael saw swirling in his eyes. “You honestly believe that woman was Rebecca.”
“I honestly know Chrystal Vaughn, who is, by the way, the blonde you are speaking of, is Rebecca Tucker.”
Gideon sighed and raked a hand through his disheveled hair. “Yeah, I know it was, is , too. I didn’t have that instant slap in the face like you did. I wasn’t in love with her before. But I saw the energy on that dance floor. I don’t think you realized it, but the power that was expelled off the three of you mesmerized the crowd for a time.”
No, Michael hadn’t realized. He’d been too mesmerized himself by the woman in his arms.
    “So, what happens now?”
Michael sipped his blood as he considered his brother’s question, the same question that had been ping-ponging in his mind since last night. “I do not know.”
“She doesn’t realize it, does she? That she’s the reincarnated soul of a woman you and Andrew shared at the outbreak of the Civil War?”
Michael shook his head. “I believe she sensed something last night, but does not have the knowledge to understand what it was.”
Gideon angled his head. “You do intend to give her that knowledge soon, I hope.”
“If I am given the chance. When she is ready, yes, Andrew and I will explain everything.”
“Yeah, about Andrew, are we supposed to believe he’s reincarnated, too, only he got to come back in the same body with added super-power benefits?”
Michael felt his lips twitch at that. “I did not get the full story from him last night on how he survived or why he has apparently been hiding all these years.”
Gideon waggled his brows suggestively. “Then what exactly were the two of you doing in that bathroom for so long last night if you weren’t talking about the past?”
Michael rolled his eyes. “I was struggling not to put him through the wall of the men’s room, while he was attempting to apologize and give an explanation. I accepted the apology for now, as well as listened to his explanation of how he came to have our Rebecca—” He shook his head and started again. “Our Chrystal in his presence.”
Gideon pushed off the desk, moved to the chair facing Michael, and sat. He slouched back, folding his hands over his gut as he gnawed the inside of his cheek. “Care to fill me in on that?”
“The how is not as important as the reason he has brought her to Atlanta.”
Gideon drew his brows together. “I would think that would be pretty damn obvious. He brought her to you, right? The three of you belong together, not just him and her or, hell, not just even you and her or you and him.”
Michael nodded once. “That is true.
