said about my desires
being normal got me thinking, or rather, it did once I'd spoken to my mother
about it."
    "What?"
    Kerri
laughed. "Don't worry, I didn't go into detail. I just told her that I was
pushing away a decent man who I'd fallen in love with because I was scared of
how intense my feelings were for you. Momma laughed and asked me if this wasn't
just what I had been saving myself for. If not, I'd have settled for one of the
other guys I'd dated over the years."
    She
told Seb about Christopher and how ashamed he'd made her feel. Suddenly, his
words didn't have the power to hurt her anymore, and she felt like an idiot now
for allowing a scared but arrogant teenager to have had such an impact on her
life.
    "Momma
said I was a fool for letting that boy upset me so and that I should forget
about him. After she'd interrogated me for a couple of hours and checked that
you weren't married, or addicted to drugs or doing anything illegal, she said
she didn't see any reason why I'd push a good man like you away. When I told
her you were a doctor, she asked me if I'd gone soft in the head. That's when
she said I should run, not walk, to wherever you were and beg you to give me
another chance."
    "She
sounds like a wise woman."
    "Wiser than me."
    Sebastian
pulled her back down to rest against his chest. "Don't be so hard on
yourself. You're more like her than you think."
    "I'm
not so sure about that. She always seems to know the right thing to say."
    "If
it was her words that brought you back to me, then I'm inclined to agree."
    "It
wasn't just her. The research I did made me realize I knew absolutely nothing
about the role that domination and submission can play in many healthy and very
loving relationships."
    "I
don't want to say I told you so … but I told you so."
    Kerri
gave him a playful punch in the arm. "Don't get too full of yourself,
Doctor March. I might like to let you take the lead in bed, but, from what I
saw, I'm not what you'd describe as a typical submissive."
    Sebastian
shrugged. "I don't blame you for being unwilling to attach a label to who
you are. We are all unique, Kerri. What works for us might not work for others,
and it's only one aspect of our relationship."
    Kerri
nuzzled his chest, allowing herself a few more minutes before she got up and
showered so she could go and cook the meal she'd spent all afternoon preparing.
But as the minutes ticked by, she just couldn't bring herself to let go of him.
Sebastian's breathing was slow and steady, and she wondered if he'd fallen
asleep. She couldn't blame him if he had. He'd done nothing but work like a dog
since he'd walked through her front door.
    "You
know, your mother was wrong about one thing," he said, making it clear he
was still very much awake.
    "What
do you mean?"
    He
tumbled her on to her back and slotted his body between her thighs. "I'm
not a good man. I'm bad … very bad."
    Kerri
wrapped her legs around his waist, pinning him against her. "Yet I'm the
one who has you trapped between my thighs. Just how bad can you really
be?"
    "How
bad do you want me to be?"
    She
thought of half a dozen ways he might prove to her how truly bad he could be,
but she couldn't decide which one she wanted to try first … so Sebastian
reached down and got his tie, blindfolding her so she couldn't see what he was
going to do, and made her mind up for her.
