as well come right out and tell you why you’ve been summoned on this sunny spring Sunday afternoon,” Sophie said as she placed a couple of huge trays piled with cheese and Italian cold cut arrangements onto the dining room table beside the bowl of freshly baked buns and the large coffee.
The women, who’d all been engaged in conversation with each other, took their seats at the table and fell silent as they peered up at her.
Sophie took her time to cast what she hoped was a severe gaze to each and every one of them.
When Sophie glared at Claire, she bit her bottom lip with worry. Marley frowned and couldn’t keep eye contact and Rachel’s cheeks blushed a bright red. Jaxie, owner of the Key Club, was the only one who appeared to not know why she’d been called as she gave Sophie a blank look.
But she figured Jaxie had to have a pretty good poker face for what she must be pulling off at the Key Club in order to reacquaint old lovers, or introduce new lovers to each other, as the case might be.
“Okay, it’s about last night and what happened at the Key Club,” Sophie finally announced.
“Wait!” Claire suddenly said in a high-pitched voice that Sophie identified as her I’m desperate tone.
Sophie almost smiled at the worry line appearing between Claire’s perfectly arched eyebrows. But she held herself back. She needed to remain as stern as she could for as long as possible so they would think twice before they went behind her back as they had done regarding Eric and Steve.
Claire pounded her fists on the table in a show of defiance.
“I confess. I’m the guilty one. I dragged the other girls into this. If you want to disown me as a friend, then do so. I understand I crossed the friendship boundaries revealing intimate things to the guys but please don’t ostracize the other girls from your life.”
The other three women shook their heads and came to Claire’s rescue telling her they’d all gone into this willingly and they’d known what they’d been doing. They were consoling a distressed Claire so much, it appeared as if they’d forgotten Sophie was there.
Hmm, this was not going the way she had planned. They were all confessing and protecting each other, instead of feeling guilty. She had to admit that this defensive attitude of the women for Claire was a good thing. She already knew she had great best friends in Marley and Claire and now it seemed she could add Jaxie and Rachel to the list as well.
“Hello ladies.” Eric’s deep masculine voice purred over Sophie’s nerve endings igniting her lust for him.
The women stopped arguing and their eyes widened as they spied Eric and Steve standing in the doorway that led to the basement. The woman had been talking so loudly they hadn’t heard the guys come up the stairs to the main floor. Each man held a medium-sized sealed cardboard box in their muscular arms. Those boxes contained the attachments to her sex machine.
Oh darn. She’d hoped the guys wouldn’t come up until she’d finished reprimanding the girls.
But now that they were here, her idea of making the girls feel guilty disintegrated. Suddenly she couldn’t think straight as she allowed her gaze to rove over their track suit clad bodies. Even in such casual wear Steve and Eric looked bedroom ready. At least to her.
A round of surprised hellos from the women echoed through the room. Thankfully Eric and Steve didn’t hang around for more than a minute because just having them near her had her pulse pounding and fevered heat rushing through her body. All she wanted to do was jump back into bed with them and their heated gazes were sending similar signals her way.
They excused themselves quickly after informing Sophie they were going out to purchase some tools so they could disassemble that little item she had in the basement. She was grateful they’d been discreet about not saying that little item they would be getting rid of was her spanking machine.
    “Um, Sophie,
