capable of hiding their victims, how can you be sure that you’ve got the correct numbers?”
“There are vampire police officers, Jacob.”
“Hence another part of the issue. How can anyone be sure that the numbers are being accurately calculated?”
“You make it sound as if humans aren’t corrupt as well,” Patrick said tightly. “Corruption can happen anywhere regardless of one’s—“
“Oh please. It’s widely known that vampires are complete and utter bastards who can’t stand not getting their way.”
“Is that how you really feel about us, Jacob?”
Jacob turned his head to look at Patrick. Something about the other man’s voice was off. When his eyes fell on Patrick he took in a deep breath. The vampire looked positively feral and for the first time, Jacob felt a shiver of fear crawl up his spine when those blue eyes fell on his.
    “What?”
“Do you really think we’re all blood thirsty heathens just waiting for you humans to turn your backs so we can pounce?” Patrick stood from the chair, his muscles tense as if primed for action.
“I—“ Jacob’s voice was interrupted by Patrick moving in and crowding him into the couch. Jacob’s arms had been resting above his head, but now he found them trapped beneath one of Patrick’s long-fingered hands. It was startling to realize the vampire’s strength as he normally didn’t display his preternatural abilities.
“Jacob,” Patrick breathed, voice sounding torn. Jacob found himself pushed even more into the cushions of the couch as Patrick pushed his own body firmly on top of him. “I have left you alone and tried to show you that not all vampires are bad, but the idiocy coming out of your mouth now and your inability to see fact from fiction is slowly wearing on me and I can’t—“
Patrick’s free hand slid down and took a firm hold of Jacob’s hip.
“Do you realize the amount of strength it takes not to touch you?” Jacob held his breath as Patrick leaned further against him, cold nose nuzzling along the vulnerable sensitive skin of his neck.
“What the fuck, Patrick?” Jacob turned his head away, unconsciously giving Patrick more room and skin. He trembled slightly at the feeling of a cool tongue licking his pulse point. “What are you doing?” He should put up more of a fight and demand Patrick release him, but something inside him wanted, no, craved more.
“I don’t know,” Patrick whined. He loosened his grip on Jacob’s hip and trailed his fingers upward under the other man’s shirt. He groaned at the feeling of Jacob’s abdominal muscles contracting and releasing. Finally he was getting to feel the body that had been so casually paraded in front of him.
Jacob panted as he felt sharp teeth against his jugular. One false move and his blood would come pouring out all over the couch. Somehow that thought didn’t sober him up instead enflaming him even more.
“Jesus Christ,” Jacob groaned. This was unbelievable. Here he was being pushed down with an out of control vampire against his chest and rather than pushing him away, Jacob wanted nothing more than to give up and give in.
The noise seemed to startle Patrick and he moved back slightly loosening his grip on Jacob’s wrists. Jacob opened his eyes, not sure when he’d closed them. Patrick pulling away was the last thing he wanted.
    “Jacob, I—“
“If you apologize, I will personally drive a stake through your fucking heart, Patrick,” Jacob growled. He pulled his arms down wrapping them around Patrick’s shoulders and pulling the vampire against him tightly. He could feel Patrick’s lips mouthing along his collarbone and his hips bucked up at the sharp feeling of arousal it produced.
“No, we…” Patrick trailed off taking in the scent of lust and want that was practically radiating off of Jacob. He was trying to resist the temptation, but oh how much he wanted to just let go and sink into Jacob. He could feel the man was hard against his
