as her
orgasm overtook her. She worked his cock until she’d milked every last drop
from it. The effect of his semen nourishing and strengthening her as she rode
out the last waves of orgasm.
In this moment, everything felt right, more right than she’d
ever experienced. In this moment, the void was filled, she was sated,
energized, happy.
She rolled her tongue around the underside of his softening
shaft and she felt him shudder and tug at her hips.
    “Come,” he said.
She reluctantly let his cock slip from her mouth and between
gasps said, “Already did.”
He chuckled lightly, his breathing still ragged. “I meant,
come here.”
She turned around, crawled up the bed and collapsed next to
him but he pulled her closer, her head on his chest. The sound of his erratic
heartbeat filled her ears. Her body hummed, strengthening as his seed coursed
through her.
“Nice sheets.” She sighed as she rubbed her palm over the
soft cotton.
She’d swear she felt embarrassment run through him.
“I wanted new sheets anyway,” he told her. “Tonight was the
first opportunity I had to purchase new ones.”
She pouted. “Aw, I thought they were for me.”
“Why would I waste money on you?” He sneered but there was
no heat behind his words and his aura read as sated and… Was that contentment,
happiness? She spotted the shopping bag on the floor and giggled. “What’s
amusing you now, female?”
“You, shopping at Van’s Linens and Lingerie. That’s frickin’
amusing.”
He grunted. “That’s what was available to me.”

Chapter Five

“Come.” Rydin stood and pulled Valia with him.
Feeling more invigorated than she’d ever felt before, she
stretched and did a little twirl.
    “Where we goin’?”
“I’m going to show you something.” He pulled on a pair of
sweats that hugged his rock-hard ass and a tight t-shirt that stuck to every
contour of his muscled chest and abs.
He stopped her when she bent to grab his tank top from the
floor and inclined his head toward the shopping bag. “Put that on.”
She propped her hands on her hips. “A bag? Really? So not
funny.”
He released an exasperated sigh. “Look inside.”
What? He’d bought her something? Valia’s excitement rose as
she flounced to the bag and dug into it pulling out a beautiful, silky
light-green nightie. She turned back to face him.
    “Why?” she asked, confused.
    “Do you like it?”
She quickly drew it over her head and let the silken fabric
caress her body as it slipped down to cover her. It was a very good fit. Her
heart did a little flip-floppy thing at his unexpected gesture and at the
approval that shone on his face and his aura. There was that lust again.
“Love it. But, why?” she asked again. Considering his want
for revenge and how much he must dislike her, she couldn’t imagine why he went
through the trouble of making her more comfortable. It made her feel worse
about what she’d done to him. Beneath his rough exterior, there was at least a
little compassion, and it made her like him more. She could feel him struggling
to close himself off.
He shrugged and said, “Got tired of you wearing my shirts.
Come,” he repeated and walked to the front door. She followed, truly curious to
see what he wanted to show her.
He opened the door and stepped outside. Turning back, and
seeing her still standing in the doorway, he said, “What are you waiting for?”
“You may be all tough skinned, but my delicate feet and that
funky ground don’t mix.”
He shook his head and scooped her into his arms. “Spoiled,”
he muttered.
She ignored the jibe not really understanding why being
spoiled should be a bad thing. He carried her effortlessly and she reveled in
his strength and the way his warm, muscled arms supporting her made her feel
safe.
After he’d carried her for at least a mile she fidgeted in
his arms. “Why all the walking? Hello. You’re a Ferox demon. Flash
already.”
    “So impatient. You said
