getting married?”
She laughed, shaking her head. “Like they’d believe me.”
“They would if we took a selfie, kissing, with your ring showing.”
“What is it with you and taking kissing selfies?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know. I’ve never taken one before, and I just—I want to send one to my mom to announce our engagement.” He knew it was silly and a bit sappy, but he thought his mom would love it.
“Really? I—we can if you want.”
“You wouldn’t mind?” She’d been against a kissing selfie every time he’d mentioned it.
    “Of course not.”
“Well, then why wouldn’t you let me take one before?” he asked, leading her to the vehicle.
She waited until they were both in and buckled. “I didn’t want a lot of mementos of a relationship that I thought was going to last for a few hours or a few days. I was worried my heart would be broken, and I’d never be able to get over you.” She was still worried about that, but she had a new attitude, and she wasn’t going to let her worries suck the happiness from her.
“And you’re not worried about that now?” he asked, pulling onto the highway and heading toward Wiggieville.
“I’ve decided not to let my worries for the future keep me from being happy in the present. I’m going to live in the moment.”
“But you still worry that I’m going to leave you and break your heart.” He wasn’t asking, because he knew. He only wished he knew how to convince her that he would be true. He’d never loved before, but he was like a wolf—he mated for life.

Because Bob went back to work the next morning, May worked as hard and fast on her book as possible, trying to complete as much as she could before the wedding. They went into town to get their marriage license Monday afternoon, but other than grabbing a quick meal, they spent no time together.
He had to shoot all day on Tuesday. He had morning, afternoon, and night scenes. He called her for a moment between scenes while he was taking a few minutes of down time in his trailer.
She sounded groggy when she answered, and he immediately felt guilty, looking at the clock and seeing it was after four. “Hello?”
“Hey, sweetheart. I was sure you’d be awake by now.”
    May groaned softy. “Timezit?”
He grinned, loving her sleepy voice. “It’s just after four. I wish I was there to kiss you awake.”
“Didn’t sleep ‘til ten. The characters were talking to me.”
“They were, huh? Did they tell you they were figments of your imagination?”
“I don’t think they realize they are.” She yawned into the phone. “You still filming?”
“Yeah. This is a heavy day for me. I’m in this episode a lot.”
“I’m sorry I won’t get to see you at all.”
    “Really?”
“Really. It’s going to seem weird to have a whole day without Bob. I’ll be Bobless.”
“Bobless? Is that a new word?”
“The best thing about being a writer is getting to make up new words. Shakespeare did it, so I get to do it too, and no one can stop me.”
He chuckled. “All right. If you say so.”
“I’m going into Weatherford tonight. Aunt Sally and I are going to find a new dress for me to wear for the wedding. Are you inviting anyone?”
“Yeah. I’ve asked the gang. Jesse, Valerie, Amber, and Steven, the director, are all going to be there.”
    “All right.”
    “Does that bother you?”
“Of course not. Did you send the selfie to your mom?” Before they’d parted ways on Sunday night, they’d taken the selfie he wanted, with them kissing and her holding her hand up where the ring could be seen.
“I did. She’s excited, but unfortunately can’t make it for the wedding on Thursday. I shared it with Team Bob this morning too.”
“You didn’t!” He could hear the shock in her voice. “What did they say?”
    “I haven’t looked since.”
“That’s diabolical! Do you have any idea how many direct messages I must have? You’re crazy!”
    He chuckled
