softly. “Probably.” There was a knock on his door. “That knock means I have ten minutes to get my butt back to wardrobe.”
She sighed. “It’s such a nice butt.”
“You’ve been checking out my butt? I’m appalled, May Newman!”
“Go break a leg. I need to shower to get ready for my trip to town and do some Twitter damage control.”
“Have a good time. Dream of me.”
    “I always do.”
    *****
May stared down at the phone in her hand, wishing he was close enough to hug. She had to bite her tongue to keep from telling him she loved him. She quickly pulled up Twitter, and sure enough, there were lots of messages from her Team Bob cronies. Team Bob had about two-hundred active members. Twenty had sent her messages.
She read the ones from her friends, Cindy and Pam, who had started Team Bob with her first. You’re marrying Bob Bodefeld, and he had to tell us? Are you crazy? Cindy asked.
She typed her reply quickly. It all happened really fast. Wedding is Thursday. I’ll send pics.
The second message, from Pam, was even more direct. I’m not sure you can still be a Team Bob member after your betrayal. Why didn’t you tell us???
She grinned. It just happened. I wasn’t trying to hide anything, but I didn’t think anyone would believe me either. I was going to send wedding pics on Thursday as my announcement. I’m going to have to get on there and say something to the masses. Be ready to do damage control for me. I’m about to go shopping for a wedding dress with my aunt.
She thought hard about what to say to the Team Bob group in general. What did you say when you were marrying the man they all idolized? Marrying Bob Bodefeld on Thursday afternoon. Will send pictures. Sorry, ladies. He’s all mine now! #SorryNotSorry #TeamBob
She’d worry about Instagram and Facebook later, knowing Pam and Cindy would make sure the word was spread. She had no doubt both already had her selfie kissing Bob with the engagement ring all over them. She wasn’t going to look. She had to worry about finishing her book before the wedding.
After her shower, she called Aunt Sally. “I’m ready to shop. Can I head your way?”
    “Absolutely. See you in twenty.”
Aunt Sally had a small house right in the middle of Wiggieville. May wished she’d let her help with expenses now that she could afford it, but her aunt was determined not to accept anything.
She got in the car and rolled the windows down, trying to let a bit of the hot air out. She was already sweating and feeling disgusting. She hated the Texas sun.
She dialed Sara’s number and used the Bluetooth that tied the phone into the car’s navigation system to talk to her as she drove. “I have news.”
“You’re marrying Bob Bodefeld, living happily ever after, and having two point three children?”
“I don’t know about the two point three children…”
“I saw the picture he posted in Team Bob.”
“I forgot you joined the Team Bob Facebook group. I guess either Pam or Cindy posted our selfie to the group.”
“Yes, and I’m glad they did! It’s my job to know what’s going on in your life. I’m happy for you, by the way!”
    “Thank you.”
“You don’t sound as happy as I like to hear you.”
    “I know. I’m just…nervous.”
“Still worried he’s going to break your heart?”
May sighed. “Wouldn’t you be? He’s a big star. I’m just a nobody.”
“You are so far from being a nobody it’s absolutely ridiculous. I’ve never known anyone as loving or as giving as you are. You’re a bestselling author! You have fans begging for the next book!”
“I know. I know! But I’m not super model gorgeous. I’m not Valerie Savoy.”
“Why would you want to be? She’s married to Jesse Savoy, and you always found him lacking beside Bob.”
May laughed. “You’ve got a point there.”
“Promise me you’ll let yourself be happy? If something happens later, so be it. Be happy now. You deserve a HEA more than anyone
