the waitress. "I'll have a Jack and Coke, and then bring us shots of vodka and keep them flowing."
The waitress smiles invitingly at him and walks away to get our order. I half expect Jared to release me now that she's gone, but he's content sitting next to me with his arm wrapped around my body.
Satisfaction by The Biz comes over the speakers and I squeal in delight. This is one of the few club songs I know and I love it. The beat sweeps me away and I have the urge to dance.
"Get up," Jared demands, pulling me away from the booth. We walk over to the railing overlooking the dance floor. I grip it with both hands and look around the room. Jared walks behind me and pushes his chest to my back, both of his arms coming up on the railings, enclosing me.
His lips move to my ear, "You ready to show me your dance moves?"
I feel like he's asking me an entirely different question with his body language. I swallow hard; the feeling of his chest against my back is doing weird things to my body. He shouldn’t turn me on. A normal person who just got out of an eight-year relationship would still be in some stage of mourning.
I've had no urge to mourn. Instead I've been lusting over the man who's taken me into his home and is my only friend in this town. The things I've learned should disgust me, and they did at first, but they don't anymore. All I can think about is how good he must be in bed.
"The question is, are you ready for me?" I turn around and push my body into his. His arms are still on the railing, but as I start to move my hips, his arms move and touch my waist. I let the beat take me away, it’s faster than I might want, but it still works.
My hands move out and grip the material of his t-shirt near his stomach, and I pull him closer to me. I spread my legs enough so one of his legs can fall in between and I start to grind against him. I'm still in the tight black dress so the action feels more intimate than it would if I were in pants.
I look up into Jared's eyes and they are smoldering. His gray eyes are burning a hole into mine and I can see his desire for me in his expression. I lean in close to him, so close our lips are almost touching, before I move quickly and place my lips to his ear.
"What do you think of my dancing ability now?"
I don’t expect him to answer, which is why I'm surprised when he moves me impossibly closer to him.
"You're sexy as fuck. Jesus, Billy."
His hand reaches out for mine and he takes my palm, lowering it to the front of his jeans where I can feel how hard he is. I'm not sure why, but I look down between us for a visual confirmation, and I can see my hand gripping his impressive length through his denim.
"Fuck, I need a drink." Jared releases me and walks back to our table. I follow him, trying to get a hold of my hormones. Right now I feel like I could explode with sexual desire.
Our table has my Long Island Ice Tea, Jared's Jack and Coke, and two shot glasses filled with vodka. Jared moves into the booth and I follow as he hands me one of the shot glasses. He has the other glass in his hands.
I watch as he drags his fingers through his hair, looking around the room before looking back at me.
"To a new start. Hopefully your boss isn't a pain in the ass, and you decide L.A. is the place for you." He lifts his glass and I follow.
"To a new start," I agree. We clink our glasses together and then take the shots straight. No chasers to help with the taste.
I swallow and almost immediately start coughing from how strong the vodka is. Jared’s hand reaches behind me and he gently pats me on the back until I eventually stop coughing.
"Each one will get a little bit easier." As if planned, the waitress comes over with two more shots. I take a sip of my Long Island, basking in the smooth delicious taste, before I pick up the second shot and toss it back. Jared laughs and then takes his shot.
"You're always doing things that shock me, Billy."
I smile back at his infectious grin.
