time and effort to the company. He was pleasantly surprised at her line. She definitely had an eye for this business. He hoped to see a little more of her lingerie in private.
“What do you say we let the horses get some water by the pond while we rest under the tree for a while?” Kane said as he got off his horse and held onto Alexis while she got down.
Max laid out the blanket that he was carrying on his horse. Alexis sat between Max and Kane. No one spoke for quite some time. They were all just sitting there enjoying one of God’s creations.
“So, you told me that your parents were in a ménage marriage. What was that like growing up? Did other kids make fun of you, or did any of the townspeople make trouble for your family?” she asked, looking toward the horses.
Kane spoke up first and said, “We had a great family upbringing. Our mother was a stay-at-home mom. Our dads ran the ranch and were always there when any of us kids needed anything. It was great having two dads. There was always someone to help you do homework, someone there to teach you about ranching, and there was constant love and attention.”
“One day we want to raise our family and bring the kids up the way we grew up. We want to raise a family and do all the things with them that were bestowed upon us. Kane and I know we aren’t getting any younger and want to start a family of our own soon.” Max looked at Alexis from the corner of his eye and asked, “What about you, Lexi, have you thought about getting married and having a family someday?”
Alexis sighed and said, “I’ve actually thought about it a lot lately.” She picked at the grass next to her and looked at how the sun reflected off the water. “I’m thirty-two, and now that I have established my dream, I want to move on and start thinking about a future with a husband and eventually kids.”
Kane lay back on his elbows and raised his eyes to look at her long, beautiful hair that was cascading down her back. “When Max and I were in the Marines, all we thought about was when we were done serving our time for our country. We couldn’t wait to get back home and see our family and start planning a family of our own. When we were younger, all we thought about was when we were going to get laid next. Our mother always worried that we weren’t going to settle down and give her grandbabies. She always told us we were too wild.” He shrugged and said, “I’ll admit, we used our looks to get women to fuck us when we were younger, but we never treated them like they were more than worthless trash. Our mama raised us better than that, and so did our daddies.”
“Have you ever been in love before, Lexi? Has anyone ever made you feel like your heart was going to explode out of your chest the first time you ever saw them?”
Like the way I felt when I first met you two? Alexis could feel her heart beating a mile a minute. These were the most amazing, sensitive men she had ever met in her entire life. What would it be like to have these two men love and adore her for the rest of her life? Were they trying to tell her something, or was she just reading too much into what they were saying? Maybe they just wanted a woman’s opinion about raising a family in a ménage relationship and what she thought of it.
“I think any female lucky enough to have the two of you for the rest of their lives is one special woman.” She turned her head to smile at the both of them. “Although I’ve never been in love myself, I guess I’ll know when it finally strikes me. I don’t think I’ve worked too hard at trying to meet men. I have to put time in at the store, and by the time I get around to thinking about a potential relationship, I’m exhausted and just want to go home for a long hot bath and enjoy a glass of wine in front of the TV.” She watched as Kane just looked at her like he had something he wanted to say but held back. He was so reserved and private. She wondered what woman
