but she fought it. Instead, she pressed kisses to his neck. Teased his
nipples and seized him with her pussy. He shook and howled as the convulsions
of orgasm ripped through his body.
Yohana moaned, her body quivering in sympathy as he shot his cream
into her. Residual shivers of satisfaction coursed through her. He pumped his
hips, holding her tight as his climax spent itself. Finally, he collapsed
against her, barely managing to stay on his feet. But he didn’t let her go. His
cock remained buried inside her while he pressed her to the wall of the shower.
His head rested on her shoulder. She dropped her head against his neck. Why did
this feel so right? It shouldn’t. But it did. Like she’d found what had always
been missing.
    “You did, älskling .”
    “Did what?”
He lifted his head slowly. As if it
weighed a ton. But still he looked into her eyes. “You have found what’s
always been missing and so have I.”
Yohana shuddered. This time with terror. Not pleasure. It wasn’t possible. He couldn’t hear her.
    “Can’t I? Why shouldn’t I hear you?”
    “No.”
She shook her head, tensing in his
arms. He sighed, gently releasing her. She gasped as he withdrew from her. The
withdrawal hurt. Not physically. But still it felt as if something had been
torn from her body. Her legs fell from his hips and he steadied her as she got
her feet under her. Her legs felt like jelly. But she couldn’t stay here. They
were not True Mates.
He gently tipped up her chin and
pressed a soft kiss to her lips. “Run for now, älskling .
I’ll let you go. But we have a deal, ja ?
You’ll be back on Friday evening for the fundraiser at the hospital?”
Yohana took a deep breath. “Yes. We’re agreed.”
She stepped under the water and
washed her body, trying to get his scent off her. But she knew she fought a
losing battle. They were entwined forever now. She just wasn’t ready to
acknowledge it.
Per watched her wash. Scrubbing as if her life depended on it. He wanted to reach
over and help her, but he knew she’d push him away. She couldn’t handle the
truth right now. Couldn’t accept that what was between them was a miracle. That
somehow, of all the wolves in the world, they’d finally found each other. True Mates .
She might fight him. But he was as
stubborn as she was. Maybe even more stubborn. After
all, he was a Swede.
“What are you laughing at?” she
grumped, rinsing shampoo out of her short hair.
    “I’m reflecting on stubbornness.”
“I’m not stubborn.” Her mouth turned
down, making him want to kiss her.
    “Determined
then.”
“Humph.” She ducked under the water.
Per watched her, waiting his turn to
get washed up. She stepped aside, giving him a wide berth. He stepped under the
showerhead and let the hot water rinse away his sweat and hers. He opened his
eyes to find her watching him. She swallowed and he couldn’t keep a smirk from
his lips.
    “Want to help?”
“If I help you wash, we’ll never get
out of here.”
“Gracious of you to acknowledge it.”
He laughed as he washed and rinsed his hair.
    “The sex is awesome.”
He frowned at her. “It’s more than
sex and you know it, Yohana .”
She shrugged. Still she fought him. Fought the truth. But not only was he stubborn, he was
patient. He intended to wear her down like water over rock. Eventually, she’d
be smooth and shiny just like a river pebble. He could wait because he had the
advantage. He knew that being separated for the rest of the week was going to
be just as painful for her as for him because they were True Mates. In fact, it
would be worse for her because she wouldn’t admit it. In the meantime, he could
flirt and seduce her with breakfast. She had to be hungry. He knew that he was.

Chapter Seven

Yohana fought to keep her attention on the city council meeting.
It was the usual suspects around the room. Most of the council members looked as
bored as she felt while her cousin Dan expounded about
