bird.
“Jake,” she said turning to see him starting at her. He cocked his brow as she walked over to him and sat on her bed.
“What is this really all about?” she asked again hoping he would now be honest with her.
Jake sighed and rolled over with his back facing her he sat up.  Cinnamon crawled over to him on the bed and sat behind him kissing his shoulder.
She saw another tattoo on his back a small black sparrow flying from a branch her fingers ran over it tracing it flight.
“What does this one mean?” she asked.
“I got that when I got my first Harley,” he said.
“Why a sparrow and not a hog?” she said. Most men in biker gangs had tattoos of their bikes, their gang family symbol or skulls.
“Because when I ride the open road I am truly free from everything,” he said turning his head and body to face her.
“The sparrow is you?” she asked.  He shook his head no.
“The sparrow is life,” he said softly.
“What about you?” he said smiling as he turned her over to examine her rose and thorn tattoo. “I was just a stupid kid when I got that, I thought I was being so cool and different,” she said woefully.  She sat up and moved closer towards Jake, the sheets on the bed crinkled as she moved.
“I was fifteen on drugs and stupid,” she said as she leaned her head on his shoulder.  Jake’s arms went around her body and he stroked her long blond hair.
“We were all stupid kids at some point,” he said softly.  Cinnamon wanted to know whom the teardrops were for on his chest and neck.  She knew they usually meant someone had died but she didn’t press Jake, men like him didn’t share those kinds of inner thoughts easily.
Cinnamon moved from the arm place in Jake’s arms and stretched, her muscles hurt from all their activities.  She looked over at her phone and saw she had a dozen missed calls.
“Shit,” she said as she picked it up.
“Jake, can I?” she asked as she held the phone in her hands.
“I’m sorry,” he said as he stood taking the phone from her.
“But it’s my sister she’s worried,” she protested.
“I’ll send her a text your fine,” he said.  He used the smart phone like a pro and sat it down turning it off.
“She will be confused,” she said biting her nail.
“Nothing to worry about,” Jake said.  He walked over to Cinnamon and lifted her chin up with his index finger and thumb and kissed her.
Cinnamon felt the world melt away in that kiss.

Chapter 8

The next morning Cinnamon woke up in Jake’s arms.  She slowly slipped out of bed and went over towards her phone.  She wanted to make sure Sugar her sister knew what was happening.
Maybe she could contact their father and he could do something.  Cinnamon waited until she was in her bathroom to turn her phone on.  When she switched it on it chimed in the bathroom as it powered up.
“Shit,” she whispered quickly pushing two large fluffy white towels over the speaker.  She turned the volume off and sent a text message.  Her heart was racing she didn’t know if she should trust Jake even if they had an amazing sexual connection. Cinnamon felt that there was more to the story than what he was telling her.
She didn’t want to contact her father for help since she had burned that bridge years ago but she knew she couldn’t involve the police.
“Cinnamon?” she heard Jake call out to her. “Just a minute just going to the bathroom,” she said as she turned off her cell phone and slipped it between some towels.
Jake opened the door just as she flushed the toilet.  She felt the adrenalin rush through her body when she saw him standing there looking at her suspiciously.
“Thought maybe you left,” he said as he pulled her close to him and kissed her.
    Cinnamon pulled herself away.
“Where are you really taking me?” she asked pointedly.
“I could take you anywhere you want to go but first we have a meeting,” he said as he pulled her closely again.  He smelled
