man. He was bald and dressed in all back. He stood what I guessed to be about 6’4 because he had Jason about two inches off of the floor and they were eye to eye.
    “Don’t you dare touch her.”
“The two of you just couldn’t let it go. You couldn’t just freak the fuck out over a dead fucking body and go the fuck away. You were supposed to run. You were supposed to want to give up this place. You were supposed to say no to owning the property where a dead fucking body was found. A dead body found where a previous dead body had been found. You were supposed to take it as a threat and run.” The man in black grumbled while still holding Jason to the wall.
“Run? Why would I run?” I took a step toward the man. I was getting pissed now. What the fuck was going on!
“You stupid bitch!” He shook his head angrily. “So the property would be broken up and sold! Christ, how stupid can you be? Do you have any idea how much the fucking land is worth? Do you have any idea how much money I’m going to get when I sell it?” he threw his head back laughing. “I’m going to be rolling in so much fucking money.”
“You! Why you? Who the hell are you?” I was now screaming.
“I’m the only living relative of the one and only Betty Moss.” He glared at me. “Glad to be the bearer of great news, but this place is all mine.”
“But Rory . . .” Jason tried to speak, but the man in black still had his hand pressed to Jason’s chest holding him to the wall.
“But Rory is nothing. She is no relation to anyone. She is the daughter of a whore.” He smiled sickly at me.  “A whore who worked for my whore of a mother.” He stated.
“So you are the bastard son of Goldie and Bruce. The man that they said was my father?”
    “I was no one’s father.”
“No shit!” I snapped at him.
“Got quite a mouth on you don’t you? Must be all those years living around whores.”
“I wouldn’t know. I was only around Caroline.”
“Bullshit! You were raised by my mother. My mother pushed me aside so she could raise you.”
“Sorry asshole, but you’ve got your bullshit wrong. I was raised by Caroline. I moved around a hell of a lot with Caroline. And only Caroline.” I moved closer to him. As we watched each other I was hoping I could get close enough to distract him so he would let go of Jason.
“No. No they told me that . . .”
“That what? That I was the baby you made with one of Betty’s whores and my mother ditched me and left me to be raised by my grandmother?”
“She wasn’t your grandmother!” he shouted.
“Are you sure?” I met his eyes and it took just that split second for him to loosen his hold on Jason’s body. I saw how much strength it took, but Jason took a deep inhale and shoved against the man in black with all of his might. He knocked him back just enough to give Jason the second he needed to reach for the baseball bat that had been standing just a foot away against the living room wall. Jason swung not once, but twice before the man was off balance.  He stumbled backward to try to get his balance, but there was nothing to grab onto. Jason lifted the bat to take another swing at him, but the man held up his hand and caught the bat mid-swing.
“You really don’t want to fuck with me, lawyer boy.” He shoved back, knocking Jason a step off of his feet. “I’ve waited too fucking long for that old bat to die so I could rightfully claim what is mine as next of kin.”
Jason and I looked at each other.
“Betty’s will doesn’t say anything about next of kin or living relative. It simply names Rory as the owner.”
“The hell it does. I’ve seen the fucking will. I have a copy of it!” he screamed. “I’m next of kin. The only next of kin!” he gritted his teeth.
“You may very well be, but Betty changed her will after Bruce died. She had a previous will and it became null and void once she changed it and it was filed. My father
