hear. Christopher will
be pleased.”
The smile melted from Tor’s face. He hadn’t thought
about that man in days. Not since he’d told Cate that she belonged to him, and
her master practically didn’t exist until their time was up. “Well, he’s a
lucky bastard. That’s for sure.” Torrance pushed his hands in the pockets of
his jeans. His blood was boiling over the anxiety of losing her.
“I brought you over here because I got a call from
him a few hours ago.”
Torrance looked at him. He could feel his pulse
jump. “And?”
“His plane lands sometime in the morning. He’s
coming in early to collect his sub. They’ll be here a few weeks, before they
head back to Brazil.”
“What?” Torrance felt like he was going to be sick.
“Why didn’t he call me?”
Doc shrugged. “I think he wants to surprise her.
Maybe he feels you’ll tell her.” They moved up a little and he noticed Doc’s
eyes didn’t leave him. “You’ve fallen for her, haven’t you?”
Torrance swallowed hard. His gaze went across the
room to Cate. The smile on her face twisted his stomach. How was it going to be
without her there, whenever he got home? Without her laugh,
or smile? Her touch? “Fallen. Yeah, you could say that.”
A laugh came from Doc, and he shook his head. “I
knew it. I’ve been watching the two of you all night. You’re like lovebirds
with your whispering and little touches here and there.” Although Doc was talking,
he kept his stare on his sub. Cate motioned with her hands while she talked.
God, he was going to miss her. Doc cleared his throat, and got serious. “What
are you going to do, Tor?”
What could he do? Tell her he didn’t want her to
leave? He knew she was looking forward to her new master. All Torrance was, was
just her trainer. “I don’t know.” Looking away from Cate was almost impossible.
He turned to Doc. “I’m taking her home. She needs to know he’s coming in the
morning.”
“You can’t tell her. I wasn’t even supposed to tell you.”
Torrance glared. “Fine, but we’re leaving.”
The crowd was so thick that Torrance practically had
to push people out of his way. He couldn’t think past getting Cate out so he
could spend as much time with her as possible. As he approached the table, he
watched her eyes grow big.
    “What’s wrong?” She stood.
“Nothing.” Torrance threw her a smile. “We’re taking off, everyone. Have a great night.
Congrats to the new parents,” he said to Benjamin and Penelope. He waved to
Justin and Henrietta while he pulled Cate toward the entrance. She kept quiet
like a good submissive until they got into his Audi. He started the car and
turned to her. “We’re going to make love all night, and you’re not going to ask
me any questions. Got it?”
Worry passed over her face. “Yes, master.”
“No. Not tonight. Tonight I’m Torrance McLaren.
Tonight it’s just you and me. Torrance and Cate.”
    “All right.” She
reached for his hand and he held hers tightly.
Torrance glanced at her and tried to control the
panic he felt. This might possibly be the last night he ever saw her again. The
thought was like a knife in his heart. They’d been so close since she’d moved
back into his bed. Now they were getting days cheated away from them, all
because of this master who’d claimed her by name. It was bullshit.
“What’s your favorite color? I never asked you.”
Cate swallowed hard. “I like pink and light blue.
They’re evenly matched, I think. What’s yours?”
    “Black,” he laughed. “Quite the
contrast from yours, if I do say so. What about favorite movie?”
A smile came to her face, and she closed her eyes. “ Only You is probably one of my
favorites. Not the most popular movie, but I love it.”
    “Song?” He
knew he wasn’t giving her time to ask him back, but he wanted to know
everything about her. It was consuming. The fear was downright driving him mad.
“Would you like to hear it? I have it
