drop to the floor. Charles was too stunned to react quickly enough and is now in Jason’s sights and has no time to move or reach for me again. Jason fires off several rounds and all bullets hit their target. Charles’ body jerks and falls to the floor with a hard thud.
I scrambled out of the way and to my feet. I run to catch Jason as he slides down the cave wall. When I reach Jason his eyes roll into the back of his head and his body goes limp.
“Jason! Oh god Jason! Please baby hold on.”
Thirty six gruesome hours later we are back in Miami at the hospital. Jason still hasn’t woken up yet. I’m not even sure what his injuries are or the extent of them. He was covered in so much blood it was hard to tell if it was his or the werewolves blood he was caked in. By the time I dragged him out of the cave our back up team had arrived with the medic chopper. I handed Jason over and let our field doctor work on him.
When we arrived at the hospital Jason was rushed into a room and no one has been able to see him yet. After being at the hospital for a couple of days, refusing to leave, and with no information on how Jason was doing a doctor finally walks into the waiting room.
“Are you Miss Barnes?” he asks
I stand up, “yes that’s me.”
“Jason woke up and he’s asking for you.”
“Oh thank god. Thank you doctor,” he nods his head as I rush past him and run down the hall to Jason’s room.
I entered the room to Jason lying in a hospital bed covered in a thin white sheet. I walk over to him, look down and smile. He looks up at me meeting my eyes returning my smile, “did you really call me baby?” he asked laughing.
“If you can joke around then you are feeling much better,” I smile and smack his shoulder. He moves to sit up in the hospital bed and I jump to my feet to help him. Jason reaches out and grabs my arm. “What the hell Jason don’t move you’re injured.”
“No I’m not. I just got a nasty bump on my head.”
“But, all the blood.”
Jason holds out a hand to stop my protest, “Not my blood. It was the wolves. I just got my head beat in pretty good,” he emphasizes by rubbing the back of his head, “and probably a good concussion to go with it and hey, who said I was joking around. I specifically heard, “oh god baby please hang on, i need you, i want you, i love you so much, and I believe there was a lot of crying.” he said playfully and winking at me.
At his silliness I can’t help but laugh, “ha ha funny guy. If you can think up such ridiculous shit then I think your gonna be just fine.”
“So, whatcha say we blow this joint and go get plastered?” he asks wiggling his eyebrows.
“Why the hell not,” I agreed happily, “After all what we’ve been through the last few days we could both use a good stiff drink.”

Nikolaos stands in a dark corner in Adalwulf’s Den a club he owns, watching Jessi and his brother at a table by the dance floor drinking laughing and having a good time. He would have gone to the hospital to check on his brother but Jessi refused to leave his side and he couldn’t risk her finding out. The only thing he could do was command the werewolf doctor taking care of his brother to refuse Jessi access to him until he woke up. According the doctors the areas around his ribs were completely shredded and he had a chunk of meat taken out of his right shoulder from fighting the wolves at the cave while he stayed in human form. If he would’ve shifted he wouldn’t have a scratch on him but none of us can afford for Jessi to find out the truth before it’s time.
The doctor also mentioned he was talking while in a healing coma saying things Jessi doesn’t need to know just yet. So, unfortunately because of the circumstances I couldn’t be there for my little brother and because Jason was healing so fast I couldn’t take the chance of Jessi seeing him and finding out what he really is. So this time we all had to
