face was only inches from hers. “But whether you believe us or not, we love you , and our baby. And we’re going to take care of both of you if we have to tie you to a bed to do it.” His eyes shot sparks at her as he raised a brow, all arrogant determination. “Now are you walking out to the truck or do you need to be carried? One way or the other you’re going.”
Rachel stared at him, angry that she felt like crying. Damned hormones. She glanced over at Chase who watched her just as intently and wore the same arrogant look as his brother.
Silence filled the room for several heartbeats, and she realized just how much she wanted to be with them. She knew they’d fight, and she’d probably regret it more than once. But she felt so tired. It would be nice to have someone to share the joys and fears of her pregnancy with on a daily basis, and who better than the men she loved and her baby’s fathers? She just had to keep reminding herself not to believe they cared too much about her. She knew they felt something for her, and with a baby on the way it would be enough for now.
Lifting the strap of her purse to her shoulder, she sighed. “Did you get my prenatal vitamins and my saltines?”
Chapter 5
Rachel settled into the master bedroom of Boone and Chase’s sprawling ranch house, surprised that neither man used the room themselves. “Why don’t either one of you use this room? It’s beautiful.”
The large room had huge windows so she knew there would be plenty of light. The furniture looked heavy but the light color of the wood gave the room an open feel. A sitting area located on one side contained a sofa, two overstuffed chairs and an entertainment center. The whole room had been done in light browns and pale blue making it feel comfortable and inviting.
“This room is for sharing,” Boone muttered as he dropped a suitcase on the bed. “Chase brought all the stuff you had on hangers earlier.”
Chase walked in, carrying two more of her suitcases, dropped them on the floor and moved to the closet, swinging the door open. “I hung everything up. You’ll probably want to rearrange it.”
Rachel’s eyes widened when she saw the size of the closet. “It’s like another room,” she exclaimed in delight.
She saw they’d installed a section for shoes and purses, another place to hang belt and scarves. “After seeing what you did at Indulgences, I shouldn’t be surprised. This is wonderful!”
She could see by the look of relief on their faces that they’d wanted her approval. Noticing that they had been nervous unraveled some of her own knotted nerves. They both seemed anxious to please her, which touched her immensely.
“Everything is beautiful.” She walked back to the bed and opened the first suitcase. “This bed is huge.” She smiled at them teasingly. “If you can’t find me, check here first. I’ll probably get lost in it.”
“I’m glad you like it, sugar.” Chase came forward and dropped a kiss on her forehead. “We had Jared, Reese and Duncan make it for us.”
Rachel just looked at him when he looked sheepish, as though he hadn’t meant to reveal that. Why on earth would they have a bed specially made if they didn’t plan to use it?
“Well, it’s beautiful. And that bathroom.” she added quickly, eager to dispel the sudden attention. “I can’t wait to soak in that tub.”
“Later. Why don’t you come have your piece of pie while we’re eating dinner?” Boone frowned. “Are you sure you’re not hungry?” They’d stopped on the way home for takeout from the diner.
“No, I already ate while you fixed my door, remember? Besides, I want to get my clothes put away and get settled in.” She lifted the first stack of clothes and started to put them away in the huge dresser. “Why don’t you call me when you’re finished with your dinner? I’ll have a piece of pie with you.”
Boone looked reluctant to leave. “Just don’t lift
