frozen, looking as if she’d slapped him. Had she said too much? Was she about to get her walking papers?
“I see.” His voice was expressionless. “That leaves me with another question. As a nanny, you’ve been winging it pretty well. But I’d bet my Bentley you’re no more qualified for this job than I am. Why are you so passionate about a baby you didn’t know existed until yesterday? What’s your stake in all this?”
Dread congealed in the pit of Leigh’s stomach. She’d revealed too much; and now Wyatt was within a sliver of stripping away her subterfuge.
Should she come clean and tell him everything, exposing her brother to Wyatt’s fury and possible ruin?
Or should she risk a bluff—the only one that came to mind?
There was no way she was going to get Kevin in trouble and cause pain to her mother. The bluff was her only remaining choice.
“Leigh, I asked you a question.” Wyatt’s voice was as stern as his expression.
“Yes, I know...” With time running out, she had to act fast. Flinging her arms around his neck, she pulled his head down and pressed her mouth to his in a desperate, devouring kiss.

Wyatt went rigid. A growl of surprise escaped his throat. Then his reflexes kicked in. Whatever game the woman was playing, he’d be only too happy to play along.
His arms caught her close, molding her curves against his solid body. A quiver went through her as he took control, his kiss utterly possessing her. Her lips parted, welcoming the playful thrust of his tongue. When his hands slid under her shirt, unclasping her bra in a single deft motion, she made no move to stop him. If this was an act, it was a good one, Wyatt told himself. He could feel the surging heat of her response. He knew his women, and this one showed every sign of wanting what he had to give.
His coat slipped off her shoulders to fall around their feet. She moaned as his hand moved over her bare back. His thumb skimmed the satiny edge of her breast, lingering just long enough for a tease. His mouth nibbled down her throat.
She was delicious, like hot buttered rum on a winter night.
Her chest arched against him in a clear invitation for more. Wyatt’s fingers slid under one cup of her lacy bra to stroke her breast—small, but so firm, so perfect.... She gasped as he brushed her taut nipple, and then, as his palm cupped her, she made a little melting sound and pressed against him. His sex was hot and hard, threatening to rip out the rivets in his jeans. He knew she could feel it.
He kissed her again, taking time to savor those ripe, swollen lips. “So this is why you applied to work here?” he muttered half-teasingly.
“Mm-hmm...I’ve had a crush on you for years, and this was my chance.” She strained upward for another kiss with what appeared to be sincere eagerness. Not that he was fooled. She was probably lying through her pretty teeth about having planned this all along, but he believed she truly did want him at this moment and, besides, he was enjoying this too much to care. Sooner or later he’d get to the truth. Right now he had more urgent things on his mind.

Leigh was losing control. She’d meant to distract Wyatt from his line of questioning, maybe even convince him that she’d come here because of him. But the man had taken charge and was sweeping her along like a twig in an avalanche.
His lips nibbled hers with an easy restraint that made her ache for more. His hand rested on her bare breast, his thumb stroking her nipple to a throbbing, exquisitely sensitive nub. Heat streamed through her body, driven by her pounding heart. Where her hips pressed the solid ridge of his erection, the contact triggered spasms of need. She hadn’t asked to want him like this, hadn’t expected to. But the sensations that pounded through her body were too powerful to deny.
“You’re so damnably sexy, Leigh.” His free hand moved down the hollow of her back to dip below the waistband of her jeans.
