take our relationship further, was I ready for that?
Who am I kidding, hell yeah, I was more than ready for that but would I be
enough for him?
I eased myself off the bed, holding my side as I walked to
the door. I put on my dressing gown to cover my naked body and briefly caught
my reflection in the full length mirror. I was a bloody mess with bruises
covering my face, neck and torso. My injuries were so bad that I looked like I’d
been in a road accident. I was pulled from my thoughts by hearing raised voices
coming from the kitchen.
I opened the door quietly and peeked through the gap. I saw
Diesel talking to Duke and Spike and heard a voice that I recognised but
couldn’t place.
“Now you have the names, what are you going to do about it?”
The man who was out of sight asked. “That’s none of your fucking business. You’ve
given us the information we need, which I’m grateful for but it’s now Aces
business.” Diesel said with annoyance and anger in his voice. “What the fuck!
You won’t tell me what you’re gonna do or even allow me to see her.” See me,
who was this man? I opened the door further to try and see who was asking to
see me. That’s when I saw him. Flex was standing in my kitchen in the middle of
the night, he had obviously been told about my injuries and wanted to see me.
“I told you she’s still…Ink! You shouldn’t be out here babe,
you should be resting in bed.” I could hear the concern in Diesel’s voice. All
four men stopped what they were doing and looked at me.
“What? Why are you all looking at me like that?” I asked,
making my way to the kitchen table so that I could sit down as I was still a
little unsteady on my feet. Flex made his way over to me and crouched between
my legs. “Oh Princess, what have they done to you? If I’d known what they
planned to do, you know I would’ve stopped them, right?” I could see the pain
in Flex’s face. “I know you would’ve protected me but then they would’ve killed
you like they did my dad.” My words hung in the air. All four of them looked at
each other not knowing what to say.
“Hawke told me that he killed my dad. Hawke told him he had
a job to run, they lured him into the middle of nowhere and shot him in the
fucking head. He didn’t stand a chance.” I wiped the tears that slowly streamed
down my face. Flex went to cuddle me but I pushed him away. “No, I need to get
this off my chest before I change my mind.” I looked at the floor. I couldn’t
stand to see the guy’s sympathetic looks.
“Hawke made it clear that he was interested in me the day I
turned eighteen. He was always suggestive, using every opportunity to get me on
my own.” Out of the corner of my eye I could see Diesel’s fists clench. “My dad
had made it clear that no one was to touch me or they would answer to him.” I
stopped to compose myself. “This pissed Hawke off because he shouldn’t have to
answer to any man within the club. Hawke told anyone that would listen, that he
wanted to be my first sexual encounter.” Duke turned slowly to face Diesel,
raising his eyebrows with a knowing look.
“I rebuffed his advances and when my dad died, I made the
decision to leave. The night that Hawke and Patch turned up here, Hawke
explained that he was here to take what was rightfully his.” I let out a loud
sigh, “I made it clear that I’d built a new life and wasn’t going anywhere with
him so he explained that he would disfigure me enough so no other man would be
interested.” I still didn’t look up but I could feel four sets of eyes burning
down on me in rage.
“Luckily the man two houses down owns a Harley. They heard
the sound of the engine and took off before hurting me further and raping me.”
The last few words came out in a loud cry. I grabbed for my bag to retrieve my
asthma pump as I could feel my chest tightening. After a couple of puffs, I
tried to control my breaths by slowly breathing in and out. I looked up
