him.
“Let’s go,” he said more sternly than intended.
Not seeming to notice his harsh tone, Hannah turned back to her work on the floor.
“I can’t yet,” she said firmly. “I’ve got to get a few more things picked out to order in the morning, or we’ll never get them in time for the parties.”
He leaned over her shoulder to look at the catalogs and wished he hadn’t. For about the millionth time, he was looking down her shirt at her very ample breasts.
Hannah cleared her throat, and his eyes jerked to hers. Totally caught in the act. Stunned, he had no excuse. Lucius opened his mouth to speak when the lights went out.
She gasped quietly and reached out for him in the darkness. This was nothing for him. Darkness was something he was made for. His eyes adjusted quickly. Without a thought, he crouched down and took her hand, pulling her to him. Safe in his arms, he listened to the sounds around them. Nothing unusual, but he had learned that quiet didn’t indicate much of anything.
“Is everything okay?” she whispered. She shook a little as she spoke.
He looked down at her. Her scared face peered back up at him, and he felt the need to make her worry go away.
“It’s fine,” he said soothingly. “I’ve got you.”
She moved deeper into his arms and sighed. His hand ran up and down her back in slow circular motions. After a bit, she seemed to calm and relax against him. They waited in the dark and listened.
“Did the outages last this long earlier?”
Lucius leaned Hannah to the side as he fished in his pocket for his phone. He grunted when she brushed up against his semi-hard dick and froze. She felt it. There was no way she hadn’t felt it against her thigh. He certainly felt it.
She shifted, rubbing against him again. This time her thigh pressed against the length of him. Lucius ground his fingers into the floor and gritted his teeth.
    “Hannah.”
    “What?” she breathed.
    He frowned.
“Are you flirting with me?” he asked.
Her face fell a little. “I’m sorry.” She struggled to move out of his lap.
The rational part of his mind said to let her go, but no part of his body was acting rationally at the moment.
“Just…” He moved his arms a little as she tried to maneuver around them.
Lucius let out a frustrated sigh and brought her back against him in one swift move. She settled quietly against him, and he bit back a groan at the feel of her ass snug against him.
“Just stay where you are,” he mumbled in her ear.
She shivered in his arms, and he loved that he caused that.
It was different this time. Last time he had her in his arms, everything felt so fuzzy. This time things were different. He was more in control of his actions.
Slowly, he released the bear hold he had on her and skimmed a hand up her arm. His fingers brushed the side of her breast and she gasped at the contact.
    “Lucius,” she sighed.
He wavered. Half wanting to feel the weight of her breast, the other half wanting to sit on his hands.
The alarms cut through the quiet night, and they both jumped. Without thought, he jumped into standing position. His phone still in hand, he dialed the number for the main gate.
“What the fuck is going on?” he shouted into the phone.
It was one of Carter’s men that answered, but he knew them to be more than capable.
“It’s not us,” the soldier shouted into the phone. “Something with the power surge caused the alarms to go off on the far end.”
He rubbed his forehead and sighed. Being on high alert, he could only assume that Titus and Sol would be watching their women. This shit was his problem.
“Get some men out there,” he said. “It’s going to have to be shut down manually until they get this figured out. Place some guards around the parameter just in case. Make sure you have some extra portable UV lights.”
It might be nothing, or it might be Romulus. He couldn’t take any chances.
Lucius watched as Hannah stood and dusted off her
