she placed her hands on
the back of his head but then removed them.
“What?” He looked over his shoulder at
her.
“You’re too tall. You’re going to have to
face me.”
He complied and bent his head, so she
could reach his hair. “I love the feel of your fingers in my hair. You have
magic hands,” he stated. When she finished, he straightened up and tilted his
head under the water to rinse out the soap. He rubbed his hand across his face
to clear the water and saw the smile on Des’ face. “You’re beautiful.” He
wanted to say something else to her. What he felt in his heart all of these
years. The many times he thought about her. And as they stood there, finally
together, what he knew to be true.
The curse and the blessing of Poseidon’s
children. They loved their mates. He only prayed as a human she could love him
back. But he wasn’t the descendant of a god for nothing. If she didn’t love him
now, she soon would.
Zek stepped forward and wrapped his arms
around her, drawing her flush against him while backing her up until she
touched the cool tile wall. He bent a little and grabbed one leg, raising it
until she wrapped it around his waist. When he grasped her bottom, she lifted
the other leg. He picked her up a little, then lowered her onto his aching,
waiting, shaft.
    She came down on him.
Immediately enclosed in her heat, he
pulsed and her sex muscles gripped him. Not letting him go. He flexed his
pelvis, tightened his hold on her ass to continue pinning her to the wall.
Steam surrounded them. He only waited a moment to catch his breath before
moving in and out of her.
Her heels dug into the top of his ass,
and her nails clawed him on his shoulders.
“Yes, gods, yes. Mark me. Own me. Take
me,” he growled before he captured her lips with his. Pumping into her quickly
a few times he would flex and tighten his gluts once more. Pressure coursed
through his body and erupted into her, seeking her womb. His entire body shook
from his release. They both trembled. Slowly, he lowered her to the wet floor
and then himself, but he gathered her into his arms. He stretched his legs out
and placed her on his lap, his back to the falling water.
Her arms circled his waist and she placed
her head on his chest.
His heart continued to beat a rhythm as
old as time at the nearness of his mate. He wanted to tell her so badly he
loved her. Had for the last twelve years and grieved each day they’d been
apart. They were together now and whether she knew it or not, he’d never be
parted from her again. He just had to find a way to convince her they belonged
to each other. The Fates had decreed it and you did not defy the gods without
severe penalties. He would allow no harm to come to her, not from the humans
she hid from or the gods.
She raised her hand and placed it on his
chest. “Your heart is racing.”
He could tell her it paced her own, so he
did.
She raised her head to look at him. “I
guess we’re in sync then.” Her beautiful brown eyes glistened in wonder when
she stared at him. “What’s really going on here, Ezekiel?”
“The truth. I have searched for you. I
needed to find you every day for the last twelve years. Even longer.”
She blinked. “And now that you
have—what?”
“I’m not going to let you go.”
    She frowned. “Don’t I have a choice?”
No! Is what his soul screamed, but he
needed to keep reminding himself. Human. The reason why he’d lived amongst the landwalkers and established himself here.
For her… All for her. Because she was all that mattered. He smiled sadly. “Yes,
you do. But I don’t.”
    “What does that mean?”
“I belong to you, Des. Even if you left
me, there will never be another for me. Nor, will I just stand still and watch
you walk away.”
“This can’t be real. We barely know each
other. And—”
    “And what?”
She blinked. “And you don’t think you’re
human for God’s sake.”
He laughed. He couldn’t help it.
    “I promise
