work?”
“It’ll still be quiet down there,” Vilas said. “Anyway, we’ve got it covered.”
All three of them were still naked. Rafe wondered if it would bother Chantal to be without clothes that way when they were no longer fucking. He and Vilas were usually naked when they were in the apartment. They were more comfortable that way. Chantal didn’t seem to be the slightest bit inhibited by her circumstances. Why would she be? She had a body to die for—slim, shapely, and simply made for loving. Rafe and Vilas shared a glance that said if she didn’t agree to mate with them real soon then they’d go out of their minds.
They’d managed all these years without a woman. Now that the right one had come along, their legendary patience was fast running out and they couldn’t wait to make up for lost time. The restoration of their mental abilities had been their main objective these past several months. Nothing had been more important. Rafe was astounded to find that that prospect barely registered on his radar anymore.
Instead he was obsessed with the need to impress Chantal, to make her fall in love with them and agree to become their mate. He’d known deep within his soul—his human soul and its panther counterpart—the moment he sensed her presence that she was right for him and Vilas. She was the only woman in the universe who possessed what it took to make them both happy and ensure the future of the Impulse panther population.
Vilas opened the door to the room that he and Rafe shared and both men stood back, letting Chantal enter first.
“What do you see?” Rafe asked.
He and Vilas watched her as her gaze encompassed the entire room. It was large with a window that opened directly onto the roof—convenient for nocturnal wanderings—but most of the space was occupied by a massive bed.
“Is this the room you two share?” she asked.
    “Yes.”
Rafe ran a hand lightly across the back of her neck. She was still rigid with tension, which was hardly surprising given all she’d just seen and learned. Rafe was impressed by her ability to take everything in without falling apart, but then again he’d expect nothing less from the resourceful female destined to become their mate.
“Why are you showing me this room?”
“Because you need to understand just how long we’ve been waiting for you,” Vilas said, earthy sincerity in his tone. “We sleep in this bed every single night—”
“Well, day really,” Rafe amended. “We’re nocturnal and tend to sleep when it gets light.”
“All those closed shades,” she said, nodding slowly. “You’re sensitive to daylight.”
“We are when we’re as weak as we are right now.”
Chantal narrowed her eyes at each of them in turn. “I hope you’re not trying to guilt me into mating with you?”
“Absolutely not.” Rafe arranged his features into an expression of resolute determination. “This is a lifetime commitment, babe, and you need to be absolutely sure before you sign up. We don’t have divorce here. If you’re in, you’re in for good. That being the case, it’s a big step—”
    “You don’t say.”
“We won’t accept you as our mate, even if you beg us to mark you, unless we know for sure it’s what you want.”
“And we will know,” Vilas warned her.
She rolled her eyes. “Of course you will. I need to be careful what thoughts I have when I’m around you guys. A girl needs her privacy.”
“We’ll teach you how to block us,” Rafe said. “We don’t mean to be nosy, but sometimes we just can’t seem to help ourselves.”
“Okay.” Chantal nodded. “That seems only fair. So why are you showing me this room if you don’t want to ravish me on that very comfortable-looking bed.”
Vilas groaned. “Trust me, honey, we do.”
“But we’re not going to.” Rafe placed his hands on her shoulders and turned her until she was looking only at the bed. “Vilas and I sleep here together, but we have never fucked
