to put space between them.
“Alright, Jada, I’m listening. Why do you think this is such a bad idea? And, just so we are clear on the subject matter, I mean us.” Alex had turned on his courtroom voice and it shook her. His voice was so powerful, commanding, and sexy. He turned to the miniature wine refrigerator and pulled out a bottle of Riesling. He poured two glasses while he waited patiently for her answer.
“Well, Alex...” Jada began, “for one, I live on the west coast.”
“Minor issue. In today’s time, travel means nothing and either one of our jobs could be mobile.” He smiled, took a sip of wine, and extended a glass to her. “Try again.”
Jada looked back at him in surprise absently taking the glass. “I don’t want to get involved right now, I have a lot on my plate,” She countered.
“I’m sure with well thought out planning, and probably a good assistant, your schedule could be reworked,” He replied. “I could get you one if you want.”
    “One, what?”
“An assistant.”
Why is he so darn confident and arrogant ? She thought . What is it with this man ? She wondered as she stared at him.
“Listen, Jada,” He began, “I understand you have a lot of reservations and I appreciate your cautiousness. The fact of the matter is, I enjoy being around you and we are attracted to each other, whether your want to admit it or not.” Jada continued to stare at him. “So,” He continued as he took a step closer to her, “I’ll give you time to get to know me better, trust me, believe in what I’m saying to you. Then finally, when the time is right...” He stood very close to her, “you’ll ask me to claim what I already think is mine.”
A rush of emotions ran through her. Desire, passion, fear, and finally anger. “Alexander Love, what exactly are you talking about?” She all but shouted.
“I thought I made it clear we are talking about us,” He said as he stepped toward the refrigerator. “Are you hungry?”
She had moved past angry and was fuming. How dare he assume she would ask him to make love to her, if that was what he was talking about. He really was arrogant. Her eyes narrowed and she had every intention on walking out, but she couldn’t move. Some of what he said had been right. She was attracted to him. She was well aware of the electricity between them. He had stamped his kiss into her mind, to never be replaced by any other. She suddenly felt the need to sit.
“Jada, are you hungry?” Alex turned from preparing something at the stove she couldn’t see.
“I don’t know,” She answered, her mind still wrapping itself around all the things he had said to her.
He noticed she had taken a seat again at the breakfast bar. He turned back to the salmon he was preparing and smiled. She hadn’t walked out, which meant she was considering all that he had laid out in front of her. He was going to make her love him.

Chapter 6

The next morning at her hotel, Jada didn’t get up right away. After returning from lunch with Alex, she was even more confused. Her head was telling her one thing, her heart another, and her history something completely different. She sighed as she stared up at the ceiling. Maybe it contained some magical answer. She hated being so confused and indecisive. It made her feel scattered.
Ami was busy moving about. “Girl, get out of the bed,” Ami called out from the bathroom. Jada pulled the covers over her head. When she didn’t respond, Ami came out and snatched the covers back. “Get up!” She demanded. “It’s a beautiful day!”
“Ami, please!!” Jada begged, reaching for the covers.
Ami wouldn’t let up. “What’s going on with you?”
“Nothing,” Jada said into her pillow. She couldn’t tell her best
friend that she might be falling in love with her cousin after just a few short days. Heck, she could still count the time in hours. Her restless nights had been filled with dreams of Alex. In her
