We must do it again. I have much more to show you. You’ve only seen the process for producing the gearboxes, next time I’ll make a point of showing you how the Caparelli engines are assembled.”
Paige forced a smile that she hoped would convince him of her sincerity. “I can’t wait, boss.”
Leon suddenly grabbed hold of her wrists and pulled her across to him. The look in his eyes let her know her deceit had been well and truly discovered. He stared directly at her for a good ten seconds before throwing back his head and laughing out loud. “Liar. It bored the tits off you.”
    “It, er…it didn’t.”
He laughed again before shaking his head and tut-tutting dismissively. “Do you really think that I’m so out of touch with your feelings that I’m not aware of what pleases you, or in this case, bores you rigid?”
Leon was such a perceptive man that she realized there was no point in trying to fake her interest any longer. “Well, boss, I wanted you to think I was interested, because I thought that would make you happy.”
Stroking the back of his hand across her cheek, he leaned in and kissed her full on the lips. “You must never hide your true feelings from me again, baby . If you do, it will only make me angry.” He shrugged. “Besides, you’re a woman, what does any woman know about cars? Apart from will it match the color of her dress, shoes, or lipstick.”
His condescending opinion of women and their lack of knowledge about cars left her in no doubt that Leon had been raised the old-fashioned way, where the man wore the pants and was always firmly in charge. As a woman only too happy to take a submissive role in a D/s relationship, that sounded just fine to her. However, out of the bedroom and away from the work environment, she was her own woman, and she’d stand her ground on issues that were important to her.
For now though, she was happy to defer to him, so she lowered her head, and appealing to his dominant nature, said, “Sorry, boss. It won’t happen again.”
He kissed her lips more forcefully this time. “I know.”
Apart from yesterday when he’d opened up to her and told of his father’s death on the Bonneville Salt Flats, Leon had been very secretive about his upbringing, and especially his mother. From what little she’d gleaned from the magazine articles and interviews he’d agreed to do, information about this lady was sketchy to say the least. All she knew was that Sarah Caparelli was an all-American girl from Lincoln, Nebraska. This mysterious woman intrigued her, and she wanted to know more, but she was afraid to delve too deeply for fear of igniting Leon’s wrath. Cherise, his ex-girlfriend, and the bitch from hell, had been unable to stop herself from running off at the mouth, because she’d drunkenly blurted out that Leon had had his mother locked away in a psychiatric hospital like some sort of nutjob. The vindictive bitch had pushed Leon too far that day, and that was when he’d thrown her skeletal frame from his house. Undiluted anger had shown in eyes that morning, and if she didn’t want to see it again, she’d better tread carefully where his mother was concerned.
Paige was roused from her speculation when Leon pulled open the passenger door. She’d been so deep in thought, she hadn’t even noticed him get out of the car and walk around to her side. “Come, Paige.” He held out his hand. “I’ll show you around.”
She slipped her fingers in his and eased herself from the car. The sun was baking hot, and she felt the heat from the cobbled courtyard seeping through the wafer-thin soles of her shoes. The intriguing sounds and scents of the Italian countryside wrapped themselves around her, almost caressing her, and she breathed in, soaking up the atmosphere. With her hand still warmly ensconced in his, he led her to the front door. As if by magic, Leon produced a large, ornate key from his pocket and held it up for her to see. “This part of
