his prey with intense satisfaction. She was on his turf. His woods. And she’d summoned him again. The scent of her arousal drifted through the air like a sexy calling.
“What—” She glanced over her shoulder and then back at him. “What are you doing here?”
She might deny it, but he knew she’d summoned him. He’d heard her soft voice in his head as she said her spell. Though her words had no effect on him, no spell did, knowing she’d wanted him near sent his animal to a frenzy.
    “You called me.”
She visibly gulped, her gaze roaming down the length of his body. The heat in her eyes turned his erection even harder.
    “I’m sorry, Jared.”
He stopped at the sound of his name. She’d called him mutt, shifter and asshole in the past, but hearing her say his name had an unexpected effect on him. He liked it.
He marched to where she stood, closing the distance between him and her, across the wide open forest. “Why are you sorry, darlin’?”
She bit her lip and his raging hard-on grew worse. “I didn’t mean to.”
He was a few yards away now. “Yes, you did.”
She shook her head, her long dark hair swinging around her arms. “I didn’t. I was trying again to create a spell.”
“But you called me, Dalia. I heard you say my name.”
Her eyes widened and her shoulders slumped. “I didn’t mean to. It was an accident.”
He stopped a few feet away from her. He knew she wanted him, could smell her need for him. “If you want me to go, I will. But be sure that the next time you even hint at wanting me near, I won’t offer up that option.”
She licked her lips and swallowed hard. “I’m sorry.”
He nodded, ready to turn away from the woman he’d wanted for months. Since the first moment he’d caught her walking around his property, she’d been in his thoughts. He’d known she was one of the elemental witches, but he didn’t give a shit. He wanted her anyway. No matter how wrong it was that his shifter blood wasn’t meant to be mixed with her high birth, he didn’t care. He wanted Dalia and when she stopped fighting her attraction for him, he’d have her.
The short black gown she wore caressed her curves like a second skin. He wanted to walk over and peel the material off her. To see her voluptuous body under the moon light and take her right there, by the river. Instead, he took another look at her beautiful face and turned on his heel, ignoring the animal tugging at the skin. Ignoring every instinct that told him to stay. To mate. To take.

Dalia watched Jared walk away. The further he went, the more her heart sunk. He’d been so close to her. And he’d decided not to call her naughty witch. He’d said her name and goddess it’d sounded so good.
“Dammit!” She grumbled turning back to her book of spells. “Why did I have to want him?”
“It’s not something you can fight,” he said from behind her.
She turned around in a rush and slapped a hand to her chest. “Frickin’ hell! I thought you left!”
He smiled, a sly predatory grin that made her all kinds of nervous. “I almost did, but then I sensed you wanted me to stay. I was right. You do want me.”
She gulped, watching him come closer. “I—” Oh, for crying out loud. She needed to take a page out of her sister’s book and be bold for once in her life. “Fine. I do. I want you. We both know this isn’t going to—”
He rushed forward, cupped her face in his hands and brought his head down, meshing their lips together. Her argument was dead the moment he touched her. He kissed with bold, sensual strokes of his tongue. His firm lips brushed over hers, kissing and sucking on her lips like she were a tasty piece of fruit.
Forget not touching him. She gave that notion up and curled her hands around his waist, sighing into the kiss. His hot, muscled flesh felt amazing to the touch. The kiss turned rougher, darker. He nipped at her mouth, working his way down to her throat.
    She could
