I know Nico and I are to going have to talk about my life after he left, about how much he hurt me. He damn well broke my heart, I don’t want to have to tell him about my pain but he deserves my honesty, hell, he has shared his painful past with me. I can see why he would believe I‘d reject him but I can’t, I won’t, I love him too much. My heart would not cope with him leaving me again. I need him to know that he’s mine now, that I won’t let him go ever again. So the future has to be set clear, he needs to understand that I will do whatever I have to, to ensure that we will be together forever. But he has such a busy life now I’m not sure where I would fit in, would I leave here if he asked? Thinking about it I realize that was never in question. Fuck yeah I would.
I lie here watching him sleep, something I have wanted to do for over ten years. We were young, only eighteen and still living at home, we hadn’t spent the night together. We would fuck like rabbits at any private place we could find; luckily we found a lot of them. I can’t help the smile from spreading over my face at the things we would get up to. I reach my hand across to him to move his hair from his forehead to get a better look at him; I can see past the bruises and the cuts and am able to look at the grown-up version of my young lover. For all of the problems and pain he has endured he is an exquisitely handsome man, his strong chiseled features; high sculpted cheekbones with a strong square jaw blend well with his high forehead. His long, thick black eyelashes are closed now and resting on his soft cheeks hiding the beautiful azure blue eyes that sparkle mischievously in jest or blaze bright in passion. His gorgeous dark hair is longer than when he was here before that it now calls out for me to run my hands through it.
As I’m about to drift off to sleep my cell phone rings from inside my discarded jeans pocket. I slide out of the bed trying to keep as quiet as I can so as not to wake him. After accepting the call I drag my jeans on and walk into the other room to talk.
“Hello Sir, what can I do for you?” My boss had promised to keep me informed on the progress of Nico’s assailants arrest and subsequent charges.
“Just keeping you up to date, Ryan. Palmer, Mitchell and Greenacre got bailed this morning.” His answer is terse.
“Fuck! Nico wants to carry on with pressing charges so I’ll bring him down later this afternoon. I don’t want to wake him just yet he needs to sleep.”
“He’s with you? Ryan is that a good idea?” I hear the concern in his voice
I know he means well but I’m not explaining myself to him. “Yes, he’s with me. He’s sleeping; the doctor was concerned because of his mild concussion. I didn’t want him to be alone.” That’s the only reason I’m sharing with him. “He’s black and blue Sir, those assholes did a really good job on him.”
“Yeah I know I’ve already spoken to the doctor. The men have been warned that if they even look at Mr. Angeles again they will be back here.”
“I’m sure they are thrilled with that.” I reply smugly.
“You know Palmer, Ryan, so you know how he reacted to that but his lawyer dealt with him.”  The Chief chuckles. “His lawyer is out of town on holiday, so he had to settle with one of his associates.” His laughter gets louder.
“So who did he get? I think I can guess but please, make my day.” A smile is spreading now as I wait for the answer.
“He got the new guy Liam Walters. He’s a nice guy, I feel sorry for him having to put up with Chip Palmer.”
I burst out laughing. “So Chip isn’t aware that Liam is gay then? Oh hell, this is brilliant! Poor Liam, he really is a nice guy.”
“Oh he knows alright but there’s not much he can do about it.” Even the chief of police laughs at the situation.
I catch a movement out of the corner of my eye making look over to the door; my mouth goes dry as I take in the tall
