about Brant?”
    His
lips pulled back in a silent snarl at the mention of his birth enemy. “After
today, it is safe to say that we are at war.” His hands squeezed her waist. It
wasn’t lost on her that his still mostly erect shaft was still inside her.
“Brant cannot protect you. The continuity of our race is at stake.”
    A
loud crack sounded, followed by another and another. Between the harsh noises…eerie
silence. Zane’s punishment was being carried out. At the next loud crack of the
whip she started, pulling in a deep anxious breath. Zane pulled her closer.
“It’s not your fault.”
    Tanya
shut her eyes trying to keep the tears inside. It was all her fault.
Whichever way she turned, it could only end in disaster.
