fumbled for the doorknob that led to the outside and privacy the darkness afforded. She knew that he could see the tears form in her eyes as the moonlight emphasized her embarrassment at being caught.
“It’s okay, baby,” he whispered while gently kissing her forehead. “I have got you and won’t let anything hurt you. Just trust me, Billie.” Jackson was becoming less and less surprised at how true those words seemed to ring in his head.
As for Billie, she just cuddled into the safe warm embrace that Jackson had provided. Her arms tightened around his neck as they both fought to tamp down the raging desire flowing between them. Their ragged breathing could be seen in the mist from the cold night air as evidence of their aroused states.
“I know he wanted to show her Midnight. Jackson thought she was a gentle enough mare for her to try out next weekend,” she heard Brody say. “Maybe they went for a walk instead.”
The response they heard almost had her laughing when Troy chimed in with, “Idiot, she had on four-inch heels. Just how far do you think she could go in them?” That comment was followed by peals of laughter as it became obvious to Jackson that Brody thought with the way she looked in those shoes, any one of them would gladly help her see how far she could go. With that last brilliant commentary, they heard the barn door close and the sound of footsteps retreating.
With a sigh, he gave a quick prayer of thanks for not only the cold but the interruption of his brother and cousin. He couldn’t believe he was a hairsbreadth away from fucking the life out of her against one of the stalls just after Sunday dinner. He had it bad and needed to get it under some semblance of control. A quick glance down at the precious being in his arms was no help. She had pinkish marks on both sides of her neck where he had either nibbled or outright bitten her in their passion. Her hair was slightly mused, lips swollen, and he couldn’t stop staring at the blue lace covering up her gorgeous, abundant breasts that were still displayed before him. Taking a deep breath, he gently lowered her to the ground and helped her adjust her clothing as her hands had taken on a new shaking that wasn’t there before he began mauling her. Without a word, he took her hand again and carefully led her back to side porch, where they could sit and regroup without fear of further interruptions. She said little and he said even less but both were acutely aware of the shift in their relationship. After he noticed her shivering from the cold, even while being enveloped in his arms, he declared it time to go in. Both took a deep breath and reentered the house. Quiet conversation and the sound of cheering for the game on TV were all the heard. Lillian and Florence looked up from their tea to smile at the returning couple.
“How was your introduction to the horses, Billie?” Lillian politely asked.
Horses? She realized that she didn’t even see them with all the other activity going on.
“They were wonderful, Lillian. By the way, thank you so very much for inviting me to your family dinner. It was delicious and I cannot tell you how much I appreciated being included,” Billie said while silently praying she didn’t look like she was going to be the one to give this woman her first grandchild based on the way her clothing was wrinkled.
With a knowing but very kind smile, Lillian responded, “It was our pleasure. You are a delight and now that we are friends, we will expect you here with us every Sunday, no exceptions. Okay?”
A chortled addition came from Jackson’s Aunt Florence. “Your apple pie alone was reason enough to have you back, but I think in time we will see other lamps becoming illuminated.”
Jackson’s expression revealed that he didn’t think his aunt’s wisdom was very funny. Billie simply continued her good-byes. She gave a stern look at Troy and Brody’s knowing smirks and walked out with Jackson. He opened
