He pushed himself up with his arms and sat on the edge of the couch. “It was a leprechaun.”
“I know. We banished him from our territory.” Carrick paced to the window. “I will let you rest until morn, but then we must have a decision on our fight with the trolls.”
“I’d like to have it and then check on Jayn. Morning is too far away.” Wick stayed seated until the king nodded and left. The moment he was alone, he brought his hands to his face and took a deep breath. He stood. Which woman was his mate? He had to know. Wick was sick of being alone, and with two prospective mates, his cock was constantly hard. Even now, it hardened beneath his loincloth, and he shifted so it was less tented. He was about to leave when the door opened and Thame walked in. Following behind him were Keyn and Flance. It seemed this meeting would take place now. With a huff, he moved to the balcony door and directed his damp wings into the breeze.
The king entered along with the rest of the fairy warriors. He moved to the center of their colorful group. “While you were off saving Wick...”
“Hey,” he interjected, “Jayn saved my life and I still have the issue of this.” He grabbed his crotch. A few chuckles rang out and even the king lost some of his angry expression.
“Well, besides Wick’s dick, we have to decide on a course of action. While you were away, I had Mord do some surveillance.”
Mord stood. He brushed his hair behind his ears and cleared his throat. “The trolls have remained out of our territory. I made my way to the caves and it seems they’ve let their guard down. There was no one standing watch and there was a pile of swords just sitting there. One of the trolls did spot me. I am not as good a sneak as Whisper.” Mord addressed the brooding fairy that hid in the shadows. “I think they really want a truce.”
“They’ve played us for fools before,” Thame said. “It nearly cost the queen and my mate their lives.” He crossed his arms, which made his muscles bulge.
“I am simply telling you what I saw.” Mord returned to the edge of the couch.
“Thank you, Mord,” the king said. “The more I think on this, the more the word ‘war’ comes into play. We cannot afford a war. We are too few and all of you are like brothers to me. We have babies on the way...” He shook his head. “I think...I think we should try this talk.”
    Thame grumbled something.
“I do think, however, we should be prepared for an ambush. If we plan using that strategy, we will be prepared for their attack, and if they are truly after peace, then the planning will have simply been a waste of time.”
Wick didn’t speak at first. It wasn’t his place to make the choice. “King of the fairies,” he said loudly, “I will follow you, come battle or peace.”
    Carrick nodded toward him.
“As will I,” Keyn said from the doorway.
There were murmurs throughout the room and the king quieted them with a wave of his hand. “It’s set then. We hope for peace, but prepare for war.”

“It must have been traumatic,” Annalise said as she reached out and held Jayn’s hand.
“Well, not in the way you’re thinking.” Jayn stood. She wanted to put everything that happened in that cave on the proverbial table. They were in a bedroom at the palace. Her ankle was healed but her heart was still jumping all over the place.
“What do you mean?” Annalise looked at her with wide eyes. She was impossible to resist or lie to.
Jayn glanced out the open balcony doors and leaned against the frame. She was working on how to say all this when Annalise came before her. The woman that filled her heart smiled and Jayn couldn’t help smiling back. Despite the situation, her inner muscles twitched and she felt her nipples go hard. Annalise could do that to a fucking nun. “It was dark...” Jayn began trying to paint the picture of what happened. “We weren’t sure if we’d survive.”
    Annalise stepped forward
