another country. Yes. That’s what he needed to talk to her about, that’s what he needed her help with.
Micah followed Sarah’s laughter to the kitchen and got pissed at how it disappeared the second he entered.
Tabitha slutted in almost on cue. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing.” Sarah’s tone was cold and the feeling that her cuz was definitely trying to cause them problems increased exponentially.
“I was wondering the same thing.” Micah leaned a hip on the island getting only the flick of her angry gaze.
“Private joke?” Tabitha purred.
“Seems like it .” Micah’s heart slammed his chest in the wake of his fury. “I need to talk to you in private.”
Sarah finally saw that he was prepared to make a huge scene if she didn’t comply.
“Hey,” Shawn sauntered toward him, “Don’t fucking take that tone with her.”
The urge to murder in cold blood had never been so strong. Micah stood rigid as adrenalin licked at every pore for ten eternal seconds. Sarah pulled him out of the kitchen while Micah mentally murdered him five different ways.
Chapter Nine
Once in the bedroom, he shut and locked the door slowly, taking careful breaths. He turned and faced her.
She stood in the center of the room with her arms crossed over her chest but there was a lot going on in her face that betrayed her cocky stance. He slowly walked to the right of her, watching her, trying to name what it was he was seeing in the shadows beneath that façade. She was acting almost… guilty.
He paused. “What the fuck is wrong with you?” There were no other words he cared to say. When she didn’t answer him, his suspicion grew. “Is there something you need to tell me?”
“Me?” Her eyes went narrow. “I wasn’t the one standing naked in the hall talking to that bitch!”
“I was going in our room and she was there.”
“She was in our room?” Her tone rose with accusation.
“She said she was delivering something for you.”
“Oh reeeeeeally!” She gestured to his body. “And you just had to stop and talk about it in only a towel!? ”
“She was blocking the door to our room,” Micah hissed. “And what about you?”
Her mouth dropped open. “What about me!”
“Letting that cousin of yours touch you all the fucking time!” Micah pointed at her. “One more time and I swear, I’ll kill him. And don’t give me that fucking incredulous shocked expression like he’s innocent.”
“He’s my cousin! ”
Micah stared at her, his heart slamming his chest now, now that it had come to that. “Kissing cousin?”
Various emotions filled her face. Shock, confusion, fear, guilt. Then the winning emotion, pissed. “I was young. We just kissed.”
Micah slowly closed the distance between them until she had to look up at him. The close proximity and angle made it hard for her to glare, but she managed pretty well. “You just… kissed?” Micah’s gut tightened at the look in her gaze. Guilt. He slowly closed his own eyes, not wanting to see it. He turned around and grabbed his head. “What… exactly did you do?”
“It doesn’t matter,” she whispered.
Micah spun to her. “It fucking matters to me!”
Tears filled her eyes and she put her hand over her mouth and covered a sob. She shook her head barely. “I’m sorry. I should have told you.”
He looked up, amazed with how much it hurt that she’d lied to him about that. “You acted like you were a virgin, like I was your first.”
She gasped. “And you acted like you fucked my friend and loved me and weren’t a Satanist! ”
He stared at her, pain gripping his chest at the ugly truth of that. The voice of reason said she was right. He of all people had no room for self-righteousness. She’d confessed in the circle during sentencing that she wasn’t a virgin, but he’d thought she meant because of him, because he’d made love to her. It was his job to do the homework right, to find a fucking virgin. He’d done
