looked at him with such raw, unabashed, pure wanting before, especially not Reina. His body responded instantly, and he started to reach for her. To haul her against him and kiss her until—
His fingers brushed the ends of her hair, and the sensual feel of her silken strands shocked him back into awareness, and he jerked his hand away. No one would use sex as a weapon against him. Ever.
“Bye, bye,” a woman’s voice sang out. “Love you all!”
Reina paled. “Natalie.” She tried to lurch to her feet, and Jarvis caught her arm as she stumbled.
He could feel the heat of her skin as she fell against him. The woman was oozing pheromones worse than a leopard in heat. He immediately released her and stepped back, needing space, needing distance from the almost unstoppable urge to throw her down right on that floor and lose himself to the passion she was emanating. Who in God’s name had made her so hot? And why was he responding like this? Women tried to seduce him all the time, and it never worked. But now? Jesus. All he could think about was how her hips would feel under his palms. What her lips would taste like. “What the hell have you been doing?” he demanded. “And who got you in this state?” Because he had a very strong urge to behead that bastard right here. Right now. Twice.
But in complete lack of reciprocity, she managed to restrain herself from unzipping his fly, and instead she was running out the door.
“Natalie,” she shouted. “Get back here! God, Trinity! Help!” She misted out of sight. Instant vanishing.
“Shit!” He’d lost her already. Was that her weapon? Turn him into a giant hard-on so he couldn’t think, and then bail on him? If he wasn’t so strung out by the blood rushing to his lower regions, he’d be impressed with the success of her plan. No woman had the ability to get him to think about sex. None except Reina, apparently.
Jarvis crouched beside Trinity. She was still hunched over, exuding sex as thickly as Reina. But it wasn’t turning him on. He actually just wanted to keep his hands off her, which was how it should be. Him, in control. Woman, not. “Where’d Reina go?”
She pointed out the front window. “She went after her sister, Natalie. They must be on the street outside. Bring them both back, Jarvis. Please!”
“I will.” He shoved his way through the men, who were now clamoring for assistance and yelling some shit about virile balls.
Jarvis reached the sidewalk just as Reina appeared across the street, directly in front of tall, suited man and a well-stacked gal who had to be her sister, Natalie.
“Nat!” Reina lunged for Natalie, who sidestepped Reina and flung her to the side. Reina crashed into a parking meter with a thud that made anger rise fast and hard inside Jarvis.
“Hey!” He bolted across the street, sword out. No one messed with the people in his life, and Reina was his, both because she was the best friend of Blaine’s woman, and because he needed her help.
He swept Reina off the curb, tucked her against him, and then grabbed Natalie’s wrist. Her eyes were glowing too brightly and her skin was hot. Too hot. Almost reminded him of Blaine’s, but he wasn’t buying that this chick was made of fire the way Blaine was.
Hell, no. This woman exuded sex on a level he’d never run into in his life. But it couldn’t penetrate the ball of hate that surrounded him. Immune as always. Except for that moment when Reina had looked at him. He’d felt that, and in a big way. Didn’t like it. But at the same time, it felt good as hell to feel like a male.
“Hey.” The man stepped up, and his eyes were flashing. “She’s mine.”
“You don’t get to have her.” Reina braced her hand on Jarvis’s waist, then she waggled her fingers at him. Death powder spewed out and hit the guy squarely in the face, but nothing happened.
Well, hell. Jarvis had seen Reina drop Nigel on his artist-boy-ass with that powder, and this guy hadn’t
