Harry Potter leads quite an ordinary life, trying to put up with his family who loathes him. Unfortunately, he knows no better
than to obey orders of his malevolent aunt and her son. But then a magical twist of fate occurs and Harry starts to receive
mysterious letters and his life changes forever. This is how Harry Potter’s adventure begins. He is undoubtedly the most
famous character created by J.K. Rolling. Due to this enchanting novel, the reader becomes aware of the fact that two
separate worlds successfully co-exist. People, who leave in a non-magical one, naively suppose that they are almighty and
rule the whole world but the truth is that literally their lives depend on a magicians’ will. Muggles treat Harry like an empty
place while in the magical world he is famous for being an only survivor of an evil powerful wizard Voldemort, who
murdered his parents. Despite all the protests of his family, who refuses point-blank to pay for him he was accepted to
Hogwarts School. Now the reader, together with Harry, is introduced into Hogwarts. There is a long way to go, many
problems to solve and yet more joys to experience: friendship, romantic relationship, and schoolwork – he chooses the
faculty Gryffindor, at which he will study. Harry learns that magic is not at all as easy as it seems. He has to make a great
effort to succeed. He makes friends with Ron Weasley, who comes from a large but impoverished wizarding family and
Hermione Granger, a hardworking girl who is likely to become a skillful witch one day. But spoiled children like Harry’s
cousin Dudley exist not only in the non-magical world. He meets Draco Malfoy – a selfish boy who enjoys strutting
arrogantly together with his escort. For some reasons he later turns into Harry’s impeccable enemy. However, there are
some more people who do not feel any sympathy for Нarry – Severus Snape, school’s potions master and , Quirinus
Quirrell, Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Anyone of us has secrets, doesn’t he? But all that is concealed becomes
known sooner or later. The teacher turns out to be under Lord Voldemort’s control. The book ends with a culmination: Harry
confronts Voldemort, who yearns to take hold of Philosopher Stone and gain everlasting life.
