moment.
Pru smiled. „Don’t you know it’s always special with you? You always seem to be able to last long enough to do things right.“
He grinned abruptly, a slanting, teasing, excitingly wicked grin of pure masculine anticipation. His hands went to the snaps of his jeans. „I guess that’s another wedding night advantage we’ve got, isn’t it, honey?
We don’t have to worry about whether we’ll be able to please each other.“ The jeans landed on the floor, and McCord stepped closer to the bed.
Pru’s pulse quickened at the sight of his lean, hard body. She had seen him aroused before, of course, but the sight of his strong, heavy manhood never failed to send a shudder of excitement through her. „I should be used to seeing you naked.“ Her fingertips glided softly over his hard thigh as he came slowly down beside her. „But somehow I don’t think I’ll ever get completely accustomed to sharing a bedroom with you.“
McCord chuckled, a deep, sexy, richly amused sound. „I know. I like the way you always blink and stare for a couple of seconds whenever you see me nude. Does unmentionable things to my ego.“ He leaned over to kiss the hollow of her throat. „Don’t worry. You should get over that particular hang-up sometime during the next sixty years or so.“
Pru sank her fingertips into the thickness of his hair and looked up at him with a sudden, earnest intensity. „You think we’ll be together that long?“
His eyes blazed. „We both made a promise and a commitment today, Pru. Now that the deed is done, there’s no turning back for either of us. I don’t make promises or commitments lightly, and neither do you.
We’re going to make this marriage work.“
The words were a vow and Pru accepted them as such. With a soft, throaty sound she put her arms around his neck and pulled his head back down to hers. She felt his fingers at the laces of her nightgown even as his mouth urged her lips apart once more.
The shimmering fabric of the gown was pushed aside until McCord had freed Pru’s small, full breasts.
When his palm grazed lightly over one nipple, drawing it into a hard peak, Pru gasped. He drank the small sound of desire from her lips and then he slid his warm hand to the other rosy crest. By the time he was finished with the light, teasing touch, Pru’s breasts were exquisitely sensitive.
She moaned into his mouth and sought the hard contours of his body with impatient hands. Her fingertips laced through the that of curling hair on his chest, sliding across the flat, male nipples until McCord was the one who was making the soft sounds of need. His hand slipped down to her stomach, and he spread his fingers possessively over her.
„You’re so sweet and sexy and honest with your loving,“ he murmured. „You always give yourself to me completely, nothing held back.“
She trembled, deeply aware of the warmth of his palm. It occurred to her that she hadn’t been completely honest with him recently. He still didn’t know about the baby. „I doubt if you were exactly overwhelmed with my generosity two weeks ago when I walked out,“ she whispered.
„There was nothing ungenerous about your actions. You did what you felt you had to do. You were feeling desperate. I understand that now.“ He trailed a string of hot, damp kisses over the curves of her breast and then he started working his way down to her navel.
„Oh, McCord,“ Pru heard herself say as she lifted herself against his hand, „I’m so glad you decided you wanted to marry me, after all. It could never be this good with anyone else. I would have been so lonely….“
„So would I.“ His fingers went lower, moving to the place that shielded her most exotic secrets. With unerring expertise he explored the flowering heart of her desire. His fingers glided through the flowing warmth there.
Pru clung more tightly to the strong, reassuring bulk of his shoulders as she felt the deliriously familiar, yet ever new
