back.
Blair was standing there stunned as the scene unfolded before him.
Why couldn’t he escape his past? Why was it following him when all he wanted was a fresh start? It seemed running four states away to a small, sleepy town wasn’t far enough. What would he have to do,
    Sunshine’s Savior

leave the planet? The hollow feeling that he’d carried for so long began to creep back inside of him. No! He wouldn’t allow this jerk to destroy what Dakota had worked so hard toward rebuilding inside of Blair.
The mates watched as Evan wrapped his massive hand around the wolf’s neck. “If we weren’t surrounded by human witnesses right now, I would tear your fucking throat out. Get the hell out of here, Jackson. Now.” Evan released the wolf. Blair watched as Jackson adjusted his shirt, sneering at Blair before he sauntered off.
Even though Blair knew he no longer lived in that life, Jackson’s words made him feel like a dirty whore all over again. He walked into the café with his eyes on the floor, feeling worthless and degraded.
Cecil squeezed him around the waist. “Hey, Kota would kick your butt if he saw you this way. Lift your head up. Be proud. Someone’s opinion of you should only matter if you care about that person. Do you care what that Jackson guy thinks?”
“Hell, no.” Blair pulled his head up and took a deep breath.
    “Thanks, Cecil.”
“That’s what I’m here for. And you should know that no one in our home cares about your past. Trust me.”

Kota stared up at the house that had caused his mate years of pain.
It looked like any other ranch style home on the block. But looks were deceiving. He sat there wondering how Blair looked as a young child playing in the front yard. How he learned to ride his bike or came home after school. His mate had grown up in this home.
Blair had told him of how his mother had run off with her boss.
Would his mate’s life have been different if she had stayed? Would she have protected her little boys?
She had to have known the monster she was leaving them to.
There had to have been signs. Didn’t she care? Mothers were

supposed to protect their children from the evil that hid in closets and under beds, not gift wrap the little tikes and hand them over.
An evil part of him hoped she was getting her just desserts. He hoped she was living in a perpetual state of hell just as her sons had.
She would deserve no less than the sentence she ultimately handed her sons.
Storm slapped Kota’s shoulder. “Isn’t that the kid?”
Kota had to look at the photo in his hand again. The teenager walking up the sidewalk resembled the photo, slightly.
The one in the flesh wore black lipstick and black nail polish. His ears were pierced from the top all the way to the lobe and a metal bar pierced his bottom lip. He was wearing a black netted shirt and black baggy jeans with chains hanging everywhere. Black combat boots plodded up the walkway.
“I think that’s him.” Holy shit, what had happened to the boy Blair fondly spoke of? Who was this kid? It didn’t matter. Oliver was leaving with them today. “Let’s go.”
The three warriors exited the SUV rental. They descend upon the sidewalk like Lucifer’s soldiers. An air of predatory darkness surrounded them. All stood well over six four. Kota knocked on the front door then stood back, his hands clasped in front of him, shoulders straight back.
The door swung open. An aged man stood there gaping at them.
He had a sturdy build and arrogance about him. Kota disliked him immediately.
“Can I help you?” he asked as he closed the door slightly.
Kota pushed his way in, knocking the man aside. “Where is
    Oliver?”
“What the hell do you think you’re doing? Get out of my house at once before I call the police.” The father tried to step in Kota’s path, but Kota was having none of that. He knocked the guy onto the sofa, growling at him. Micah headed down the hallway as Storm
