“How much longer?” I moan, staring at the maze of controls Harry is using to steer the ship. I have no idea how he manages to fly this thing without constantly checking a guidebook. His hands seem to know the ship inside and out, never even bothering to glance at the buttons before he pushes them. Despite how amazing he looks, though, I find myself growing more and more bored with each passing day.
Once we dropped off Mira, it was only supposed to take us another four days to get to Peraoi. The planet holds the Key to Bleoi, which we desperately need to find. Harry’s been searching for a long time for this key, but making our way to Peraoi has taken a lot of time.
    Time we might not have.
Harry thinks we’ll be safe from hunters, trackers, and treasure seekers because we didn’t tell anyone about the clue he found on Earth.
    I’m not so sure, though.
I’ve read too many mystery novels to think anything is for certain.
Mira really hates him for cutting her out of the treasure, for not including her. She was his lover, for awhile, and she feels that he owes her. Though she almost killed him for the clue that will lead us to the key, she was unhappy, to put it lightly, when we left her on her home planet.
    I think Mira is dangerous.
I might not know a lot about alien life, but I know a lot about women.
And I know that Mira hates Harry for leaving her behind while he goes on this adventure.
More importantly, she hates him for the way he saved me on Earth. He could have left me to die, to be raped and murdered at the hands of someone I thought was my friend, but he didn’t.
    He saved me.
    He rescued me.
And now I’m the one traveling with him, embarking on the adventure of a lifetime.
We dropped Mira off just a few days ago and now we’ve been floating through space, seeking the island planet of Peraoi.
And I’m bored out of my mind.
“Seriously,” I complain, not caring that I sound like a whiny toddler. “How long until we get there?”
“Time is irrelevant,” Harry responds, focusing on flying. His eyes don’t leave his controls. We’re in an area of space he isn’t used to. He doesn’t want to trust autopilot, I suppose.
“Is it?” I shoot back. “Because the last time I checked, the entire universe revolves around time.”
    Shit.
My outburst does not go unnoticed. If I was hoping to get a reaction, I’m getting it now. If I wanted attention, I have all of his.
Only it’s not quite what I thought it would be.
Harry stands and walks over to me. He towers over me, strong and huge. His yellow eyes burn into my brown ones as he glares at me.
“I will not tolerate disrespect, Aislin.”
    I look at the floor.
“Sorry,” I mumble, and I blush a thousand shades of red. I’m suddenly completely embarrassed. Harry has done a lot for me. A lot . He saved me from my home planet and managed to make me feel welcome despite being completely alien to him . Now I repay him with what? Sarcasm and impatience? He doesn’t need that from me.
More importantly, he’s not going to put up with that from me.
“Go to your room,” he says.
“What?” I look up at him. Is he serious? He’s going to send me to bed like a hot tempered child?
The look he shoots me when I question him immediately silences me and I stand up to leave. As I reach the store, I hear his voice, strong and steely.
“Aislin, when you get to your room, you will strip, and you will wait for me.”
I feel his breath at my back, on the top of my neck, his body just inches from mine. I can’t move. I won’t move as I wait for the rest of his instructions.
“And if you touch yourself before I arrive, you’ll have much more than embarrassment to deal with.”
I hear his footsteps as he retreats, and I silently walk to my bedroom. I like living on the ship and in only a short week, I’ve managed to become quite comfortable with the layout of the place, but right now, I feel like humiliated, embarrassed, and ashamed of
